AMD's Upcoming RX 6950 XT Could Boost to 2.5GHz Out of the Box
AMD’s RX 6950 XT could boost to 2.5GHz out of the box.
If it’s achievable with a standard dual slot cooler then it’s going to be amazing.
Greymon55 a prominent leaker indicates that the RX 6900 XT could feature a boost clock of over 2.5GHz.
250MHz or at least 10 percent is increased over the base 6900 XT’s 2.25Ghz boost clock.
RX 6950 XT is set to take its place as the best RDNA 2 card before the release of RDNA 3.
It’s all speculation really, not much else is known about this card.
The other 6X50 refreshes will get a memory speed bump, up to 18Gbps.
The cheaper RX 6500 XT includes 18Gbps VRAM, the newer and more expensive cards will include it too.
If there are any 7nm process optimizations then their TDP increases could be small, if the refreshed cards are simply higher clocked variants.
There are many 6900 XT cards that can reach 2.5GHz out of the box; they can mostly use the binned Navi 21 XTXH GPU.
Asrock Rx 6900 XT OC Formula is an example.
Our OC formula review sample maintained 2.55GHz over the long run, with its stock cooler.
The 6900 XT cards are overclocking monsters.
