Age of Empires 3 has gone through a bit of a renaissance since its Definitive Edition came out back in October 2020.
They launched an expansion in the form of The African Royals, and seems to have received more love and support from the developers.
They have excellent Historical Battles mode.
It lets you partake in 12 specially crafted battles, some of which involve unique factions.
You can now stand shoulder to shoulder as the Pirates fending off Spain at Algiers with a tangible human friend.
12 histoical battles in the game are locked off behind The African Royals and Mexican DLCs.
Option has been added to add an extra AI opponent.
Its looking good for the small player base of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition.
They have always enjoyed the historical battles, they are a fun feature that adds interesting mechanical quirks.
