The Arena, All Intermediate Challenges - Horizon Forbidden West

For the open loadout challenges, the boltblaster is arguably the best weapon you can use.

For extra damage, you can buy the explosive damage coil from the maw of the arena hunter merchant.

The last thing you need is to open the ultra shot weapon technique and you are good to go.

You have to replace the boltblaster explosive bolts and the ultra shot technique.

Making the first challenge really easy.

The second challenge is about the same as the first.

If possible, aim for these if you hit the armor, it's ok at least you will have better access for hitting launchers but mainly focus on these two parts of their bodies.

Then it's ultra shot time again.

During this fight, it is very likely that you run out of weapon stamina.

So in the meantime, you have to do the bow damage.

They are blasting rockets at a distance which can be annoying.

So don't reload when your rockets are flying.

Anyway as your stamina recharges, finish off the second grimhorn.

The challenge is indeed chaos but it is also fairly easy.

Rule of thumb is to blast everything you see near you.

As you will one shot burrowers and if you hit well even widemaws.

Only thing that is a little problematic is reloading the weapon.

So choose the timing carefully, if you are not sure just run away a bit.

And that's it, you just have to mow down the rest. Ok first things first it's best to fight on the outskirts of the arena.

Because the fence can stop this annoying thing. it is not 100% defense but it can make all the difference.

Once you drop, don't attack right away as the snapmaws will likely start blasting before you can fire back.

So run behind the fence on one side or the other.

So run behind the fence on one side or the other.

The gist of the fight is this: 1. Every time you get near the machine, use the weapon technique on it. If you have the energy. 2. Then shoot one salvo of bolts which make the machine enter a shocked state. 3. Once the machine is shocked and keeps firing with shock bolts doing this the machine never leaves the state until dead.

Weapon technique.

After that, enter a shock state.

If the machine leaves the shocked state on you, it's best to retreat for a bit and start the process again.

Whenever you have the time, reload the weapon.

Destroying the tide ripper without him leaving the shocked state is the same tactic as before.

He will never leave the shocked state.

Fence blocking the attack as mentioned before.

The last one is really easy again using the shock bolts to bore him down.

Note that the order by which you destroy them can depend on your situation who gets near you first, second.
