How to Beat "Emma, the Gentle Blade" Boss Battle - Sekiro

Combat Tip 1: When closing in, strafe Around Emma.

By strafing around her, you will be able to avoid most of her attacks.

Aim to strike after her attacks with your own to damage her health & finish her off.

Combat Tip 2: You can Parry as well.

Another idea is to lure Emma into a trap and make her counter your attack so you can parry her returning strike.

This may take some practice to learn the parry timing and this is a faster alternative to the strafe tactic.

Notable Attacks

Notable Atack 1: Throw Attack.

After swinging her arms to grab you, an unblockable attack is executed.

Dodge to the side and attack in her opening because Emma can close in quite a distance with her steps.

Notable Attack 2: slash Dash then Thrust.

After closing in with a slash dash, Emma follows up with a deathly thrust.

After her attack, the thrust attack can be Mikiri Countered and deal extra posture damage.

Notable Attack 3: Lower Slash.

With an unblockable slash, Emma attempts a lower swing after reeling up.

Be ready to jump or dodge out of the way because she often uses this attack after her guards & parry.

Notable Attack #4: Cross Cut.

Emma unleashes a cross-cut, after sheathing her sword.

Follow up with several attacks of your own after dodging to her backside.
