How to Complete Bunker Shooting Range Challenges for All Tiers – GTA Online

GTA 5 Online has a ton of challenges for players who are bored of the same antics, day in and day out. One of these challenges is the infamous Bunker Shooting Range Challenges. Not only do they help strengthen your shooting skills, but they also enhance your accuracy, and completing them unlocks rewards. In this guide, you’ll be looking at how players can breeze through the Gun Range challenges and the three tiers of each weapon class. Without further ado, let’s jump in.

Bunker Shooting Range Challenges & Tiers

Similar to the Ammu-Nation Challenges, the Bunker Gun Range Challenges are meant to give practice to players with their manually aimed weapons. These challenges are available for players who have purchased a Bunker and have also bought a shooting range with it. The Shooting range is located just next to where the Disruption Logistics Laptop is situated inside the player’s Bunker.

Rewards

Completing these challenges offer handsome rewards as completing Tier 1 gives Metallic Gold & Platinum Tints for your MK II weapons and makes Grenades available in an alcove near the Shooting Range.

Completing Tier 2 unlocks five extra throwables for each of your throwables and refills their ammo. Additionally, the Grenade Launcher becomes available in the alcove.

Lastly, on completion of Tier 3, the player unlocks three Caps, six T-shirts, and three Hoodies. The Rocket Launcher will also become available in the alcove.

Challenges

The challenges consist of three tiers; Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. There are six categories of weapons; PistolSMGAssault RifleCarbine RifleCombat MG, and Heavy Sniper. It makes for a total of 18 challenges as each weapon class has three tiers.

Tier 1 consists of only ground targets and they pop out one at a time. Tier 2 has both ground and ceiling targets, with two popping out at the same time. Lastly, Tier 3 has ground and ceiling targets and three of these targets will pop out simultaneously.

Similar to Ammu-Nation Challenges, these challenges use the same score and multiplier mechanic. Players receive 5 points in any area, 10 points if struck on the Red Body marker, and 15 points when striking the Red Head marker. Each Round lasts for 30 seconds. In this guide, you’ll be looking at how to complete the Tier 3 challenges as they are the most challenging.

Pistol Challenge Tier 3

This guide recommends using the MK II upgrades as it makes sailing through these challenges a breeze. Players can use their usual pistol too but it will take time and effort to post higher scores. For this Challenge, the player should equip the MK II Pistol and add the Extended ClipMounted ScopeFlashlight, and Compensator.

The Extended Clip is vital as it allows players to avoid frequent reloads and to take advantage of the precious seconds. Players should also have set up their dead zone so they don’t have to waste precious time, trying to align shots.

Players should also focus on trying to hit the Red Head Marker as it doles out the greatest amount of points. The Multiplier effect is paramount to completing these challenges so just make sure to hit consecutively to get the highest score.

SMG Challenge Tier 3

Next, there is the SMG challenge. It is recommended to equip the SMG MK II or the Combat PDW, as it comprises a 60-round magazine. It is recommended to add a Muzzle BrakeExtended ClipSmall Scope, and Heavy Barrel to your SMG MK II.

The shooting strategy remains the same, always try aiming for the Red Head Marker. Four consecutive shots will unlock the Multiplier bonus, meaning all of your Red Headshots will grant you 45 points instead of 15. Missing a single shot will reset the multiplier and it’ll be difficult to surpass the target score or your high score.

Players should get used to flicking and snapping the joystick to toggle between multiple redhead markers on different targets. Players can get through some of these challenges with body shots but aiming for the red bulls-eye on the targets’ heads is simply more effective and efficient.

A pro tip for PS players; pressing the Right arrow on the D-pad will restart the challenge if the player thinks they can do better.

Assault Rifle Challenge Tier 3

For the Assault Rifle challenge, it is recommended to equip an upgraded MK II Assault Rifle with a Muzzle BrakeExtended ClipGripFlashlightSmall Scope, and Heavy Barrel.

The Extended Clip is beneficial as it grants the player 60 rounds. The Muzzle Brake, Grip, and Heavy barrel makes for a more efficient weapon, decreasing recoil and increasing the rate of fire. The upgraded weapon feels more accurate, there’s increased control and it makes for a better gun when compared to its standard variant.

As automatic weapons are prone to recoil, a player with standard weapons can pass these challenges by practicing till you’re in a comfort zone. Pulling down on the Left joystick will ease the recoil for most automatic weapons and especially those without a Muzzle Brake and Grip.

Players will get consistently higher scores with MK II weapons and without them, it requires more time and effort, and passing these Tiers becomes challenging and demanding.

Carbine Rifle Challenge Tier 3

Next up is the Carbine Rifle challenge. As with previous weapons, an upgraded Carbine Rifle MK II should be equipped with a Muzzle BrakeExtended ClipGripSmall Scope, and Heavy Barrel.

The difference between the standard and MK II weapons is stark in this category. The Standard variant has a lot of recoil and kickback which makes for difficult aiming after the first few shots. It’s highly recommended to get the MK II variant alongside the Muzzle Brake, Grip, and Heavy Barrel for consistently high scores.

Players also need to be mindful of the targets. In Tier 3 challenges, three targets will pop out simultaneously. Targets will drop after landing a specific number of shots or after a specific amount of time.

Players toggling from one target to another should be mindful that a target might go down sooner, owing to the time spent standing. This sequence can cause the player to miss shots. Missing shots will remove the Multiplier bonus. This makes it extra difficult to surpass the target score. These types of errors can be corrected with practice and persistent effort.

Combat MG Challenge Tier 3

Players looking to breeze through this challenge should equip the Combat MG MK II alongside its attachments such as a GripMuzzle BrakeHeavy BarrelExtended Clip, and Large Scope.

The regular Combat MG packs a lot of firepower and with its massive kickback and recoil, it’s challenging to even get through the target score, never mind the high score. The MK II variant with the Grip, Muzzle Brake, and Heavy Barrel is a much better weapon even though there’s a slight recoil too, considering it’s a fully automatic machine gun.

Players will do well just pulling down on the Left joystick slightly to manage the recoil. Other than that, this gun has an amazing fire rate, it will ‘melt’ through targets with ease and power. Also, players don’t have to worry about reloading, thanks to the 200 rounds in the Extended Clip. When equipped with the right attachments, it’s a thing of beauty to see this weapon in action.

Players will get through these targets as a hot knife through butter, such as the power and accuracy of the Combat MG MK II.

Heavy Sniper Challenge Tier 3

Last, but not the least, the Heavy Sniper Challenge is a bit more challenging than others. But with the right weaponry and attachments, it’s quite doable. For this challenge, players should equip the upgraded Heavy Sniper MK II alongside the Thermal ScopeHeavy Barrel, and Muzzle Brake.

The reason for opting for the standard 6-round magazine instead of the upgraded 8-round magazine is strategic. After practicing with both, this guide believes that players can get one extra shot with the 6 rounds magazine. With the round restricted to 30 seconds, the 8-round magazines take a little bit more time to reload and a player will get off 16 shots if they’re lucky. However, with the 6-round magazine, players can get off 17 shots after reloading a third time.

Another important tip regarding aiming is that players mash in their Right Joystick while holding down the Aim button and press the Up-arrow key so players can zoom in with their scope. This tip is handy when there’s a timer running down and a player takes time to align their shot with the sniper rifle.

That’s all from this guide. Remember to get the upgraded MK II weapons and their necessary attachments to post your high scores and get the free rewards by advancing through multiple Tiers.
