Finding ancient bones is actually fairly easy, all you need to do is find a planet. When you scan it, it will say that ancient bones are one of the resources. If there isn’t a planet in your system that has ancient bones on it, then you have to go to a different system until you find a planet with ancient bones on it when you scan it.
Once you get on a planet with ancient bones, you have to do your analysis visor to find natural burial sites which you’re going to dig up using the terrain manipulator. Then you’ll be able to find ancient bones in them.
