How to Fix Resolution Stuck at 640 x 480p on Xbox Series X

This guide will let you know how to fix the resolution stuck at 640 x 480p on the Xbox Series X. By following the simple steps mentioned below, you will be able to adjust the resolution as per your choice.

  • First, open the settings menu on your device and go to the General settings. After that, navigate to TV and Display Options.
  • Check the Resolution setting and if it’s locked, you need to proceed to the Advance settings.

  • Go to Video Fidelity and Overscan, look for Display settings, and select Overrides Auto Detect.
  • You need to choose HDMI if you’re using an HDMI cable. If using DVI, select that option.
    You might get a message warning about overriding your TV’s settings. Confirm this override to proceed.

  • After overriding, your screen might look unusual with black bars. Change the color depth to 36-bit.
  • Access the Video Modes section that allows you to enable 4K. Select Allow 4K. Go back to the resolution setting and choose 4K from the available options.
  • Check and enable settings like Allow HDR, Allow 50 Hz, Allow 24 Hz, or similar options in the Video Mode settings.
