Frostpunk is a first society city-building survival game developed and published by 11 bit studios.
The premise of the game is set around the impact of eruptions of Mount Tambora and Krakatoa and dimming of sun along with other factors leading to a worldwide volcanic Winter costing millions of lives and destruction of food and all other resources.
The main storyline of the game takes place in New London but you also have to explore other areas. Set in an alternate-history 1886, the player assumes the role of the leader of the last surviving city on Earth during a time of extreme global cooling. In the jarring grips of the cold, you have to lead a nation through chaos, violence and unpredictability into a world of peace and prosperity. You have to build and maintain the city, gather necessary resources, make laws ensuring peace and safety in your city, and most importantly give your people the most important tool they need, Hope. In addition to that, you also have to explore other areas outside the city to look for survivors as you are their only hope.

In addition to that, people are ridden with despair and hopelessness, and can act irrationally at times, so you have to make laws in order to ensure the safety of your citizens. Managing economic affairs while winning hearts of your people don’t always go hand in hand. You are going to have to make a lot of tough choices, sometimes on the extreme end of the spectrum to ensure your people are fed, and other times you will have to make up for those tough decisions by cutting your people some slack.
In an environment where the average temperature is –70C, hope can be a difficult thing to instill, especially if there is a “Great Storm” coming your way. Stockpiling resources, recalling outposts and collecting refuges are some of the things you are going to need to do. And when temperature falls down below –120C, the coal generators cannot keep up with the extreme cold causing prevalence of diseases like frostbite. Not only that, you have to think about the future too, what happens if you are successful in defending your nation against the storm, you need to preserve plants and seeds from around the world to make sure you have something to fall back on when the stockpile of resources inevitably gets depleted.
