Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Monolith Productions. The game is played in third person perspective.
The game is based on an original story created by J. R. R. Tolkien, and serves as a connecting dot between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
In the game, you assume the role of Talion, a ranger of Gondor assigned to guard the Black Gate of Mordor, who along with the wraith of the Elf Lord Celebrimbor, set out on a journey to avenge the loss of their loved ones. They are after the forces of Sauron, who killed Tarion’s wife and child. There are several missions and quests in the game and completing them earns you experience points and unlock additional skills. You can also earn the in-game currency called Mirian. You can complete these quests using a variety of weapons and you can travel to places riding monsters, accessing forge towers and using parkour.
The elf commander enhances the player’s abilities like slowing down time and brand your foe to become an ally. Some areas in the game act as triggers for detecting talion and an alarm goes off if Talion enters these areas. This leads to additional Uruks being called to that area to attack and kill Talion.
The game introduces a new Nemesis System that allows the AI controlled NPCs to remember their previous actions and interactions with the player. Uruks are the main antagonists of the game and the game has a built-in feature which tracks any uruk that has performed a significant action against you, and if such Uruks survive long enough, they are promoted to captains. Defeating these promoted captains can weaken Sauron forces.
The game has stunning graphics, smooth gameplay, rich and details environments, a breath-taking soundtrack and engine optimizations that makes the experience very immersive.
