Description
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is an action strategy RPG developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment. The game serves as the prequel to the Mount and Blade: Warband expansion pack. The game can be played in either first person or third person perspective.Â
The main story takes place on the fictional continent of Calradia and is set about two centuries before the events of Mount and Blade: Warband. Taking inspiration from the Migration Period, the fictional Calradic Empire is based on Rome, Greece and Byzantium. The fall of the Calradic empire is supposed to represent the fall of the Roman Empire and the three way civil war represents the formation of European, Middle Eastern and North African realms of the Middle Ages. The game features eight different factions each with their associated clans and minor factions. These factions include the Northern Calradic faction, the Southern Calradic faction, the Western Calradic faction, the Vlandians, the Sturgians, the Aserai, the Khuzaits and the Battanians. The outfits, weaponry, armor and architecture of these factions are all inspired by their real-world counterparts.Â
The game requires you to build a party of soldiers and use them to complete different quests and several high-stakes battles. The game features a class system which is divided into three main categories including cavalry, ranged and infantry. You can select between different classes using a point system which replaces the money system of the previous games. Each of these classes has positive and negative aspects which are further affected by the positive and negative effects of their factions. The game features some welcome upgrades over previous versions like improved relationship between characters where you can take advantage of the much improved dialogue and persuasion system in addition to a unique bartering system. Additionally, this version doubles up on the strategic elements compared to the previous versions and allows you to create different siege engines to be strategically placed in different areas in order to target specific areas of the map. You can also create breaches by bombarding the walls and use them once the action starts.Â
In addition to the single player sandbox campaign, the game also includes a number of multiplayer modes allowing you to compete with a large number of players from around the world. The game features a skill based directional combat system inspired from the medieval times. Additionally, the game features a smooth gameplay, stunning graphics and a very well optimized gameplay. All of these features make this a great addition to the franchise.Â
