Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is an action role-playing video game developed by Hardsuit Labs. The game serves as the sequel to the 2004 game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines and is a part of the World of Darkness series. The game is played using first person perspective which alternates to third person for contextual activities. 

The game is based in 21st century Seattle. During a Mass Embrace, rogue vampires publicly attacked humans breaking the code to maintain their secrecy. This led to a large number of humans turning into vampires. 

The game features a world inhabited by vampires, demons and werewolves living together with humans. In order to keep things civil, a code is in place that forces vampires to hide their true identities and avoid unnecessary killings. The vampires are divided into various groups including the Brujah wo are idealists and excel in combat, the Malkavians who are either blessed with insight or cursed with insanity, the Nosferatu are condemned to live in darkness in order to avoid humanity due to their monstrous nature, the Tremere are vampires that exercise blood magic, the Gangrel are introverts and like to keep to themselves in line with their animal instincts and lastly there are the Toreadors who are the most civilized of all the groups, have a passion for culture and are the closest to humans. 

In addition to these groups, there are five Full-Blood vampire factions throughout Seattle, each following their own ideology. These factions are led by the longest reigning vampire prince, Lou Grand and include the Camarilla who are the wealthy and socially elite vampires. The Baron who represent the criminal underworld and the Pioneer Faction which consists of some of the oldest vampires. Additionally, there is the Unseen Faction and a Newcomers Faction exclusive to the Nosferatu and the Tremere respectively. The Camarilla due to their wealth wield power in businesses throughout Seattle and this doesn’t bode well with the Anarchs who believe that power should be distributed equally among all vampires.  

The game assigns you the role of one of the many humans who were turned into thinblood vampires during the Mass Embrace. The thinbloods require human blood in small amounts are more resistant to sunlight. They are weaker than other vampires and typically looked down upon by most clans. You job is to assign of the three thinblood disciplines to your character and then make your way into one of the five Full-Blood factions.
