Merchants in Hogwarts Legacy play a prominent role, providing wizards with supplies, gears, and items that couldn’t be obtained otherwise. As they are scattered worldwide, many specialize and deal in various magical items that help wizards achieve their unique goals. This comprehensive guide will look at 25 different traders, the items they’re selling, and ranking them. This guide will include only interactive merchants rather than shops like Honeydukes.

Eddie Thistlewood

Located in Brocburrow and the lowest on this list, Eddie Thistlewood is a trader of cabbages. He’s the brother of Helen Thistlewood, a famed Auror who accompanies you to Azkaban in a Hufflepuff-exclusive quest. Eddie will first give you a quest to deliver Chomping Cabbages to the merchant Ndiaye in Feldcroft to ward off goblin attacks.
Eddie is at the bottom of the rankings because he only sells two items. Dittany Leaves and Chinese Chomping Cabbages at 100 and 300 gaellons, respectively. These items can be grown in the Room of Requirement, making the Hamlet Shop of Eddie pointless.
Claire Beaumont

Located in Upper Hogsfield, Claire Beaumont specializes in selling off the by-products of dangerous creatures. Like Eddie, she only sells Mongrel Fur, Stench of the Dead, and Spider Fangs. Two of these are common items that wizards will undoubtedly pick up from numerous fights. The Stench of the Dead is rare, so she’s ranked higher than Eddie Thistlewood. She’ll also ask you to find her brother Bardolph, which turns out poorly.
Bernard Ndiaye

In Feldcroft, Bernard Ndiaye is a seller of magical beasts’ by-products. Ndiaye is one of the friendliest merchants in the game, but he sells only four beast products. Niffler Fur, Mooncalf Fur, Puffskein Fur, and Jobberknoll Feathers are his products.
Farming the magical beasts in vivariums can acquire three of these items. Compared to the rest of the merchants, Bernard Ndiaye only adds a little value and can be avoided by farming these magical beasts via the vivariums inside the Room of Requirement.
Edgar Adley

One of the two merchants in Aranshire, Edgar Adley, is a clothes merchant by trade. To unlock Edgar’s shop, players must complete a quest involving venturing into the Forbidden Forrest and infiltrating a spider lair, consequently defeating the mini-boss, The Absconder.
After returning Milo’s heirloom to Edgar, his trading ability will be unlocked. At best, his collection of clothes could be more sparse, as he only has four items in his inventory. More items than that can be obtained by looting a cave. Plus, players can sell their old clothes to all merchants to make Edgar a more attractive prospect. Skip.
Clifford Cromwell

Marunweem. Clifford Cromwell is a plant merchant in a cosy little house in Marunweem. His inventory needs to be better equipped, having eight items for sale. Almost all the items he sells can be grown in the Room of Requirement, and by the time the wizards make their way to the southern coast, they should already be growing all these plants in the Room of Requirement.
Dittany Leaves, Fluxweed Stems, Knotgrass Sprigs, and Mallosweet Leaves are some of the primary products he sells. He sells Chinese Chomping Cabbages, Mandrakes, and Venomous Tentacula for combat—another trader with limited inventory and a very polite demeanour.
Jalal Sehmi

Jalal Sehmi is a Potions merchant situated in Lower Hogsfield. He’s another merchant with no unique selling point, but his proximity to Hogwarts makes him an attractive prospect. He has six items, three potions, and three key ingredients for potions.
He has the Eduras, Maxima and Wiggenweld Potions. In the ingredients, Lacewing Flies, Leaping Toadstool Caps, and Leech Juice. Jalal sounds eerily similar to J. Pippins as the same actor voices them. All in all, Jalal is useful when near Hogwarts for a quick Potions re-fill.
Fatimah Lawang

Once a travelling merchant, Fatimah Lawang is the resident Potions merchant in Keenbridge. Players will encounter her first while making a delivery from J. Pippen to her. It is also stated that J. Pippen and Fatimah don’t get along.
Although a potions merchant, she only has the Wiggenweld Potion in her inventory. She does have some unusual ingredients, e.g., Moonstone, Aswinder Eggs, Lacewing Flies, Leaping Toadstool Caps, and Leech Juice. Out of all these, Ashwinder Eggs are difficult to obtain from the open world and are the main ingredient for Eduras Potion. The eggs are useful for wizards in the early game.
Crispin Dunne

The other merchant in Aranshire, Crispin Dunne, will introduce himself in the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, where he gives you the quest to rid Aranshire of spiders. After completing the quest, Crispin Dunne will become a tradable merchant, selling plants. His inventory is the same as Clifford Cromwell, with the addition of Spider Fangs. Taking care of the spider problems has undoubtedly left some by-products for Dunne to sell.
The unique feature of Dune’s stall is the wheelbarrow behind his stall. There’s a fully-grown Venomous Tentacula on top of it, which players can equip for free. It is a nice, free reward for dealing with the Spider problem in Aranshire. Besides, his inventory is pretty generic, but players should travel to Aranshire to collect the free Venomous Tentacula.
Agnes Coffey

Agnes Coffey is one of the friendliest merchants in the game. She’s located in the southern hamlet of Bainbridge. A clothes merchant who only sells green and blue tier items. Not the one for advanced wizards but for players just starting, her collection of clothes will add a bit of style and nuance to your appearance.
Agnes Coffey will send us out on a quest to rescue her pet Niffler ‘Ricoco.’ This quest involves travelling to a nearby crypt, fighting the Inferi and Ashwinders, and navigating unique sliding floor puzzles. Upon rescuing the Niffler, the game gives us three options. One, you can return Niffler to her and have her everlasting gratitude. Two, you can sell it back to her for a price; third, it is the funniest option. The last option makes Agnes distraught, and refuses to trade with you again.
Bella Navarro

In the furthest settlement from Hogwarts lies the hamlet of Cragcroft. Bella Navarro is the resident Potions merchant In a quaint little town beside the ocean. She’s the best potions trader outside of the Hogsmeade area. Bella has some useful items in her inventory, such as Ashwinder Eggs, Troll Bogeys, and essential potions.
But by the time wizards make their way this far down the coast, players will most likely be producing all this stuff at the Room of Requirement. Of her extremely nice demeanour and kind words, wizards coming by her shop should sell their old clothes to her, as she” charge a reasonable price and will send you off, feeling giddy. Her outside store is one of the fanciest and witchy-looking stores in the game and matches the quaint-little aesthetic of Cragcroft.
Ollivander

The most famous name among merchants in the wizarding world, Ollivander is easily the best wandmaker in the wizarding world. He has two shops, one in Hogsmeade and another in Diagon Alley. Ollivander is listed as a merchant but only serves a purpose in the main story missions. Players will have to go to his shop early in the game to choose and craft a wand according to their liking.
The wand purchased can’t be changed except for the customizable handle. He appears again in a Ravenclaw-unique quest and, lastly, pops up at one of the last missions in the game. Apart from these three meetings, Ollivander isn’t a tradable merchant. Due to the immense popularity and respect for the best wandmaker, he’s ranked in the middle of this list.
Rohan Prakash

One of the travelling merchants, Rohan Prakash, can be found in the southern part of the world. Either he’s at the Marunweem bridge or just west of Cragcroft. He’s running the store for his father, who has recently fallen ill. Like all travelling merchants, his inventory includes all combat plants, some key ingredients, and various potions.
Still, Rohan has another interesting item that has yet to be sold anywhere. The Aeromancer Broom is unique, and broom enthusiasts should add this rare broomstick to their collection. All the broomsticks in the game fly at the same speed, but for those looking to collect all of the available broomsticks, Rohan Prakash is the man you’d want to see.
Priya Treadwell

A travelling merchant by trade, Priya Treadwell is the wife of Nora Treadwell, who introduces you to the Merlin Trials. She can be found in the Feldcroft region near Rookwood Castle, the South Sea Battle Arena, or the Northern South Sea Bog. She’ll strike up a conversation about your mutual acquaintance, and it’s a nice addition by the game developers to make Hogwarts Legacy a tight-knit community.
She’ll have an identical inventory to Rohan, with the only exception being the Family Antique Broom. This Wicked Witch broom is a great addition to your collection and is worth visiting for players looking to buy rare broomsticks.
Arn

Arn is a travelling merchant who can only be found west of the river through Hogwarts Valley. Before we can trade with him, players must complete a quest, ‘Carted Away‘ for him, freeing his stolen carts from a Goblin camp.
Afterwards, he can be found by the river in Lower Hogsfield. His inventory is the same as the other travelling merchants, with the addition of the Silver Arrow Broom. It’s a beautifully crafted broom, and broom fans should buy this one based on its appearance and rarity.
Leopold Babcocke

The last travelling merchant, Leopold Babcocke, is ranked higher than the other merchants due to his increased variety and quantity of gear. He is situated north of Hogwarts, either in the East North Ford Bog, Hogsmeade Station, or East Hogsmeade Valley. His inventory is always fully stocked, with multiple wares for each item, making him an ideal pit-stop before heading to the Forbidden Forrest.
He also sells the Sky Scythe Broom, priced at 5,000 gaellons, one of the most expensive broomsticks in the game. Leopold Babcocke is one of the first travelling merchants whose players will encounter the best out of all travelling merchants.
Padraic Haggerty

A resident merchant of Irondale, Padraic Haggerty is a beast’s by-product merchant. Compared to other merchants such as Bernard Ndiaye, Haggerty’s store has a vast and high-quality collection of magical beast resources. His inventory includes Kneazle Fur, Phoenix Feathers, Unicorn Hair, and Grapehorn Horn. These items are quite difficult to obtain, and Haggerty has a big collection.
Considering Phoenix Feathers aren’t sold in Hogsmeade, Haggerty is an attractive prospect for players looking for magical beast resources. He also gives an interesting quest in which players must track down the thief who sold his family heirloom. Completing the quest will earn Padraic’s gratitude but not a discount.
Indira Wolff

Like Padraic, Indira Wolff sports an identical inventory based in Pitt-Upon-Ford, in the Northern Forbidden Forest region. A breath of fresh air when describing her store, she doesn’t oversell her store compared to the rest of the merchants with a limited and shoddy inventory. Indira is also an animal by-products merchant, showcasing the Phoenix Feather in her inventory.
She has many valuable resources and seems like a hard worker. Ms Wolff inherited the store from her father and is occupied with running it smoothly. Please pay a visit to her for some rare magical beast resources.
Gladrags Wizards Wear

All of the rest merchants in this list are based in Hogsmeade. Hogsmeade is simply the best place for trading and buying essential supplies. Gladrags Wizard Wear is our resident clothing merchant, supplying us with magical items based on our level. Augustus Hill runs this place, and he has a decent enough inventory.
Upon visiting him, this guide found legendary gear better than theirs at Level 35. Each gear piece sells for 500 gaellons. He also gives you free robes for defending Hogsmeade from a Troll attack. The best thing about this shop is that it caters to all levels of players in Hogwarts Legacy. The only clothes shop that does that.
Madam Snelling’s Tress Emporium

Madam’s Snelling’s Tress Emporium is a wonderful shop in Hogsmeade that allows players to change their appearance. It’s a great addition to the game as players want to avoid being stuck with the same appearance they used on Character Creation. Madam Snelling runs this establishment and charges only 20 gallons per visit, which is quite cheap.
However, we can’t change everything, but Hairstyle, Hair Color, Scars, Complexion, Eyebrows, and Eye Color are the ones we can easily modify. This store is easy to miss since there’s no quest attached to this shop. It doesn’t fulfil any gameplay purpose but allows players to express themselves with the changing periods of the game. Do visit her to change your appearance for a very low cost of 20 gallons.
The Magic Neep

The remaining merchants on this list are also the most important in the game. All these merchants sell or buy items that can’t be traded elsewhere. The Magic Neep is our gardening retailer and is important in helping us grow plants in the Room of Requirement. It sells non-deadly plant seeds, which are crucial for acquiring the key ingredients for our potions.
Other merchants can sell these grown plants, but the Magic Neep gives us seeds to grow them perpetually, saving time and money. It is the most sustainable way to farm and grows key ingredients in the game, and none of it is possible without visiting the Magic Neep. Shrivel Figs, Mallosweet, and Fluxweed Stem seeds aren’t available anywhere else. Visit this store in Hogsmeade to set up farming in the Room of Requirement.
Dogweed and Deathcap

The go-to store for deadly seeds is the Dogwood & Deathcap. Located on the outskirts of Hogsmeade, this store sells seeds of combat plants such as the Chinese Chomping Cabbage, Mandrakes, and Venomous Tentacula. This method allows you to grow your combat plants instead of shelling out money every time you need them before combat.
It also sells Fertilizer which increases the output of your plants by one. This store is crucial in the game and should be visited when setting up farming equipment in the Room of Requirement. The seeds don’t come cheap, but in the long run, it saves both time and money farming and growing your plants.
Sprintwitches Sporting Needs

Brooms play a big part in the Hogwarts Legacy, allowing players to cover long distances and traverse unapproachable terrain. Albie Weekes at Sprintwitches Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade provide players with brooms. He has five brooms on sale for a very reasonable price of 500 gallons each. This price is far better than those travelling merchants offer, ranging to 5,000 gaellons on a single broom. It also allows us to complete quests to upgrade our broom speed.
They are three Time-Trialed racing events, and completing each will boost our broom speed. Albie also sells us our first broom and continues improving our riding experience by offering these quests. The only drawback to this otherwise lovely store is after completing and buying all the broomsticks; the store has no actual purpose. Upgrade your wizard’s broomstick and make your gameplay experience much more comfortable.
Brood and Peck

Brood & Peck is the only merchant in the game where wizards can sell items other than clothes. Magical beasts captured using ‘Nab-sack‘ can be sold to Ellie Peck here for a fixed price of 120 gaellons per beast. Similarly, Magical beasts raised and grown in vivariums can also be sold here, making it a money farm for players looking to generate money. Brood & Peck is the only merchant where players can look to gain more gaellons every visit. The only drawback is regardless of the rarity of the magical beast, Ellie offers a fixed 120 gaellons per beast. Located in Hogsmeade, Players looking to free up space in vivariums or generate an income stream should visit Brood & Peck.
Toomes and Scrolls

This guide has incessantly discussed brewing ingredients and potions, farming animals, and using the Room of Requirement. To do this, a player needs potting tables, breeding pens, potion stations, beast feeders, and several other things. For them, wizards need to get Spell Crafts. Only one merchant in this game sells these: Toomes and Scrolls. Thomas Brown is the man to meet in Hogsmeade, and this is the biggest money-sink in the game. Each item is unique and only needed once, but the prices are steep. The store offers a huge range of conjurations that can be placed in the Room of Requirement.
This store houses some of the essential conjurations required in the room and will greatly save you money compared to buying ready-made products from other merchants. Large pots are needed for Fluxweed and Venomous Tentaculi, while hopping pots, composters, and potion stations allow you to reap the benefits of an endless supply. It also sells breeding pens, beast feeders, and toy boxes to be placed in vivariums to help you breed and feed the beasts to get valuable resources. It’s a crucial merchant with which your room of Requirement will be useful. Players should keep some of their money saved to buy these vital spell conjurations from Toomes and Scrolls.
J. Pippin’s Potions

J. Pippin’s Potions is ranked at the top of this list; J. Pippin’s Potions is valued for its quality, quantity, and specific location. It’s located in Hogsmeade, right next to the Fast Travel waypoint, making it very convenient for players to run to the shop anytime they’re passing by to sell old gear and buy the essential potions. Although all merchants buy things at the same rate, getting to most of them requires some travelling. J. Pippen sells key ingredients for potions and ready-to-use potions in a larger quantity than other potions merchants.
He’s also the only merchant that sells Potion Recipes, required to brew potions in the Room of Requirement. Utilizing the potion recipes will make buying the potions redundant, saving us time and money. After a few visits, J. Pippen will give a quest to deliver potions to Fatima Lahwang and, upon completion, will thank us every time we walk into the store. It’s the best merchant in the game for potion self-sufficiency or selling off an overflowing gear inventory; J. Pippin is the man to see.

That’s all from this comprehensive guide. Remember to become self-sufficient and set up your brewing equipment and breeding pens to save money rather than buying ready-to-use items from merchants.
