They require higher voltages than similarly-sized rigid actuators.

These flying bots can now run on low-voltage, power-dense, high endurance soft actuators. They can use 75 percent lower voltage while carrying 80 percent more payload.

The issue faced for the team now is how thin they can make the actuator layers, due to dust in the air. Building actuators in an MIT nano clean room to elimite issues.
