America's Army is Finally Closing for Good

America’s Army is finally closing.

The Army is shutting down its free-to-play recruiting tool, after 20 years.

They said that they will shut down all support and official servers on May 5.

It first appeared in 2002 and was designed as a promotional tool for the US Army.

It was a free-to-play tactical shooter and featured more aspects of military life.

It made an impact and was surprisingly popular.

Everyone who played was on the side of the US Army and saw their opponents as an enemy faction, this is how they structured its multiplayer.

After the first edition multiple sequels followed.

They found that 30 percent of all Americans aged 16 to 24 had a positive impression of the Army.

The Canadian Band wrote a protest song about the game in 2005.

They were largely dormant since 2013, when they released Proving Grounds.

The offline features are expected to continue to function.
