Crytek Forces Patreon-Supported Crysis Remastered Photo Mode Mod Offline

Crytek forces the Patreon-supported Crysis Remastered mod offline.

They said monetization of the mods is against the EULA.

The UUU is a mod created by Frans which brings a powerful mode to a list of Unreal Engine 4 games.

Which enables video game photographers to capture images beyond regular screenshots.

Last year they also created similar mods for part 2 and 3 which are no longer available.

They asked Bouma to take them down, which came from Adam Grinsell.

Seven days were given to him before the matter would be referred to their legal department.

He said the mod is built entirely on his own code. Grinsell replied, the main issue with the software is that it monetizes, therefore we request that you remove the paywall.

The mods are only available to Patreon subscribers.

It came to the attention of Reddit, and they apologized for mishandling the situation.

Despite the apology their base position remained unchanged. To either give the mods away to everyone or take them down entirely.

He has taken down the mods because it will only benefit Crytek if he made them public.

He won’t be working on photo mode mods of any other Crytek games in the future.
