Four Washers Could Help Drop Intel Alder Lake CPU Temps By Up To 5°C

Four washers could help drop Intel Alder Lake CPU temps.

Igor’s Lab has found an effective and easy mod  for 12th Gen motherboards.

Alder Lake processors may run hotter due to a slight bending.

You may be able to prevent the bending from occurring with a simple fix.

Need a handful of washers, a Torx T20 screwdriver bit to fix it and drop a few celsius.

They managed to drop 5 degree celsius under load in prime95.

The concept of the mod is to reduce the bending of the IHS and process at a point of high pressure from the ILM.

They found out the slight bending of the ILM was the main problem.

Applying four washers to the socket makes it a cooler chip.

ILM is attached with four Torx screws, which can easily be reattached with M4 washers.

1mm washers are best suited to the task it appeared from their results.

Core i9 ran at 84°C peak during their benchmarking.

They found consistent reduction in temperature due to mod.
