How to Beat "Headless" Boss Battle - Sekiro

In this guide, I'll show you how to beat the headless found above ground (in Ashina Castle, Ashina Depths, and Sunken Valley).

Boss Fight Tips

1st combat tip: “Divine Confetti” is must.

To normal attacks, Headless is vulnerable.

After using the consumable item “Divine Confetti”, your attacks can connect.

Make sure you have polentiful stock.

2nd combat tip: Parry, instead of blocking his slashes.

Even if successfully guarded, blocking headless attacks will stack up your fear status.

Be sure to deflect the slash attack because it has a high fear effect.

If you don't have fear status yet, you may choose to block the strike. But 3 strikes will fill the entire bar if you block it.

After deflecting his attack, you can create an opening. Strike him once or twice after his attacks.

Be careful not to go too far with a move. It can easily backfire on you.

3rd combat Tip: When headless disappears, turn your camera.

Headless will wrap behind your back, when the headless disappears.

Don't look back right away, but instead turn your camera to check whether he appears behind you.

Turn and strike 1,2 times, once you see him.

If you do not turn, headless will assault with Perilous attack.

Once you confirm his teleportation, be sure to turn as soon as you can.

Notable Attacks

1st notable attack: You have to grab from behind [!].

This is an attack only used when your opponent sneaks up behind you. It can be difficult to avoid once set off.

The best way to deal with this is to face him when he teleports.

2nd notable attack: Black Orb.

Projectile attack will be used when in range.

This attack will hit you hard with multiple projectiles. Keep your guard up to avoid taking damage.
