Nvidia May Keep Shipping Ampere GPUs Even After it Launches Lovelace

Nvidia may keep shipping Ampere GPUs.

We may all finally have a chance to get an RTX 30-series card, I guess.

For the past few years, getting a decent graphics card at a decent price has been almost impossible.

Going into the next-gen at a full speed is a good move.

But Nvidia is thinking about keeping some of the older cards around.

Nvidia’s CFO was asked about the next-gen products.

He said that RTX 30-series of GPUs may stick around to be sold alongside the next generation.

Kress said that Even during this period of COVID and supply constraints, it's been interesting because it's given us the opportunity for gaming to continue to sell both the current generation [RTX 30-series] as well as the Turing generation [RTX 20-series].

So we’ve been doing that to provide more and more supply to our gamers. And we may see something like that continue in the future, He said.

Last year they had announced a rehash on some of its 20-series cards with upgraded RAM.

It was aimed at helping with the rush demand for gaming GPUs.
