The game restricted players to play one game per day.
After you’d solved the daily puzzle, you were done until the next day and it was impossible to overload on it.
The New York Times bought it near the end of January.
Part of a deal was to preserve player stats.
But numbers of players discovered that their streaks are gone.
They have been actively working on a solution after they acknowledged that something wasn’t quite right.
Use the old Wordle URL to get into the game, a very simple fix was revealed after several hours.
They promised that the game would initially remain free to new and existing players.
