There are two methods to do so; the first one is available to anyone at any level. Open the world map and look for Troll Dens; there will be a Troll Lair in the Forbidden Forest, the nearest fast travel point, and southwest of the North Ford bog entrance.
The second troll is near the fast travel point stone point, Rookwood castle. There is another troll combined in the North West and Southeast areas; the nearest fast travel point is Poidsear castle.
There is more troll down here on the bottom side of the map. If you need a couple for a single potion, find one of these spots and take them down. But if you want to farm them more quickly, the best method to do so is the combination of Alchemy and resting. So it would be best if you got some Focus potions for this. After that, open up the world map, go anywhere and then pass seven days. Open up your map, and press the Wait button at the bottom right of the screen.
It will respawn all the troll caves across the map, and you can go and farm them. Having a focus potion and Avada Kedavra is a must-have for this method.
