Atari Mobile Lineup Includes Roller Coaster Tycoon and More

Have you played Atari today? No? Time to hop to it. Earlier, the popular publisher distributed a list of its upcoming iOS games. There’s something for everyone, including a casino experience, the first iOS adaptation of Rollercoaster Tycoon, and more arcade-style remakes in the vein of Super Bunny Breakout.

“We’ve spent this year focused on developing mobile games based on some of Atari’s most iconic and enduring franchises,” stated Atari CEO, Jim Wilson, in the press release. “Our upcoming lineup should make clear Atari’s strategy to work with the strengths of our key franchises and offer our expanding global audience of mobile gamers a collection of accessible and fun consumer experiences.”

Here’s what you can look forward to.

Roller Coaster Tycoon

The famous roller coaster sim is finally coming to iOS. Much like the PC version of the game, you play as a theme park designer who aims to bring joy to the world with your wicked roller coaster designs. The more barf-inducing, the better. Finally! A chance to make a mobile version of Mr. Bones’ Wild Ride! Roller Coaster Tycoon hits iOS and Android in Q1 2013.

Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands

On the subject of iOS firsts, Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands is the first official D&D; to hit iOS devices. Warbands is a complex turn-based strategy game that lets you battle friends (and enemies) with one of four factions built out of hundreds of units. There’s also a single-player campaign for when you just feel like trampling empires by your lonesome. Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands is coming to the iPad this December, and will cost $2.99 USD.

Atari Casino

It’s time to blow all your money and blame it on Atari. Okay, no real money is exchanged in this free-to-play casino sim, but you can still try your hand at blackjack, slot machines, and other games that have Atari arcade references woven into them. Atari Casino is free and will be available for iOS later this year.

Outlaw

This classic Atari 2600 franchise is set to make its return on iOS with slick hand-drawn graphics. Players wander through Western-themed stages and shoot down bandits with touch-screen controls. Go for the headshot. Outlaw comes to iOS as a free download in November.

Centipede: Origins Update

The only good centipede is a dead centipede. Atari is rolling out an update for Centipede: Origins that introduces new items, new maps, new gadgets, and the chance to challenge friends to win coins. The update for Centipede: Origins will be available in November.
