GTA IV – How to fix Resource Usage (VRAM) stuck on 512 MB

In this brief guide, you will get to know how to fix GTA IV showing only 512 MB total VRAM even if you have more than that.

You cannot increase the graphics settings despite having 6GB of VRAM on the GTX 1660 Ti.

First, you will need to find how much VRAM our GPU has (in MB).

On the taskbar search “Dxdiag” and hit enter.

Now if you have switchable graphics(intel/AMD or Nvidia), you will be having both display 1 and display 2 tabs. If not then only 1 display tab.

Now take a note of the display memory value. If you have a rockstar launcher then follow the next steps.

Open the rockstar launcher and go to the settings.

Go to the grand theft auto IV and scroll down to launch arguments. Enter ‘-availablevidmem 5991’ or VRAM amount of your GPU (in MB).

Now the total VRAM will be the value that you have entered.

If you have a GFWL/Steam version,(any Non-Rockstar launcher version), then you will need to do this: Open the notepad.

Enter: -availablevidmem 5991 (Replace 5991 with your VRAM value (in MB).

Now save this file as “commandline.txt” in the root directory of GTA IV.
