Finding activated resources isn’t super difficult. But if your system does not have a planet with activated resources on it, then you have to keep switching systems until you find one with a planet with a activated resources on it which if your unlucky can take some time.
Activated copper you will find in the normal orange systems, cadmium is found in red systems, Emeril is found in green systems, and Indium is found in blue systems.
Once you get on a planet with activated resources on it, you have to collect it by mining it using mining extractors. You can find locations to mine it using the analysis visor to find hotspots with the resource on it.
