In this guide, you will learn how to FISH in New World. Go through the guide and follow the instructions to fish.
You will need a fishing rod first to do the fishing, and you can craft the fishing rod from the campfire when it is fully unlocked. You can also craft the fishing rod at any settlement; press F3, the default button, to fish in the water.
Press the R key to open up the bait menu, and then select the bait. You will find the fresh water and the saltwater sections in the Equip Bait menu, as shown in the image below.
You can select how far you can throw while using the fishing line, and you can also throw with the maximum distance that your fishing rod. A small timer will appear on the screen to start reeling when the fish is caught in your fishing rod. If you don’t click in that time, then you have to throw the fishing line again. In tier 2, you can only throw about 14 meters distance from your character, as shown in the image below.
Now you have to wait until it says ready, then click and hold the left click, and it will start reeling and dragging the fish, as shown in the image below.
When the timer starts getting red, you have to stop reeling for a few seconds and then do it again by clicking and holding from the mouse. If you use bait for fishing, you may get some specific fishes that you can sell. Using baits will also help you catch the fish because you can catch some boots or hammers from the water without bait.
