This guide will let you know how to fix the Input Delay in Fortnite. Go through the guide and follow all the instructions carefully to fix it.
Fortnite Video Settings
You will need to open up the game, navigate to your video settings and make sure to play in Fullscreen mode. In many cases, this will fix the input lag or delay. You have to set the Resolution option to your native monitor resolution, and you should limit your framerate to a value above your monitor’s refresh rate.
It will improve your performance and fix input delay. You can copy the following settings for mid-end devices in the Graphics Quality settings. For low-end PCs, you might want to reduce these settings even more. The 3D Resolution option should not be changed, as it will automatically change when applying some of the next settings. You have to disable Shadows and Anti-Aliasing and the two High-Resolution options. Under Advanced Graphics, you need to disable vertical sync, disable Motion Blur, and enable the Show FPS option to see how well the game runs on my system.
After that, set the Rendering Mode option to DirectX11 and enable the Multithreaded Rendering option. When using an NVIDIA graphics card, you should allow the NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency option. You have to set it to On, which will have a lot of impact on the game’s performance when using up-to-date graphics drivers. Also, set the DLSS option for Deep Learning SuperSampling to Performance. In some cases, it will reduce your render resolution, but it will use deep learning to render highly detailed images. You have to play the game to see how these new settings affect your in-game performance and input delay.
Update Peripheral Drivers
To further reduce the input delay when playing Fortnite, you must ensure that your monitor, mouse, and keyboard drivers are up to date. To do so, open up your Device Manager by searching for it in your start menu search. Here, expand your Keyboards, Mice, and other pointing devices and Monitors. After that, you have to right-click the correct device for each device you are using and select Update Driver. Lastly, click on Search automatically for drivers, which will take a moment to make sure that your device’s driver is up to date.
Disable High-Resolution Texture.
You have to open up your Epic Games launcher and navigate to your games library. Here, click on the burger menu for Fortnite and click on Options. It will allow you to disable the High-Resolution Textures option. When you disable the high-resolution settings in your video settings, you will not need to download and use these for Fortnite.
Window Update
Next, open up your Windows settings. In the Windows Update tab, check for Updates or Download and install the updates if any are available to you. After restarting your PC, Fortnite can run a lot better if you haven’t updated your PC in a while.
Startup Apps Settings
While in your settings, you have to navigate to the Apps tab and click on Startup. Here, you need to prevent applications from starting up on system boot that you don’t use daily. The more resource-intensive applications are running on your PC while playing Fortnite, the more input delay these could cause.
Update Graphics Driver
When using an NVIDIA graphics card, using the GeForce Experience application is suggested. AMD users can follow along using the AMD Radeon Software. In the Drivers section, click on Download, and it will take a moment to download the latest driver, which the application will automatically install.
Custom Fortnite Settings
In the Home section, click on Details for Fortnite. It will allow you to access some additional settings. Click on the gear icon, and then turn this slider option to performance. It will reduce your in-game settings for Fortnite, which will reduce input lag and delay while in-game.
GeForce Settings
You need to look at your GeForce Experience settings. In the General section, make sure that the In-Game Overlay is disabled. Overlays are known culprits for lag and delay. Below, enable the NVIDIA Image Scaling option. It will improve your gaming performance by increasing the image sharpness of your game. It reduces your video resolution and still gets a great visual experience.
