To start, you need to make sure that you have a hyperdrive with some fuel in it, just in case you have to hop between different systems.
Once you’ve checked that, you will need to check all the planets to see if one of the resources on the planet is salt. If it is, then you have to go to that planet. But if you have no planets in the system with salt on them, you will need to go to different systems until you find one with salt on it.
Once you reach the planet with salt on it, it should have plenty of water sources that you can go into, and there will be certain plants in the water. When you mine them, they will drop the salt, and you can mine those plants by either going into the water yourself and mining them or using your ship and shooting randomly into the water, which will destroy plants, giving you salt. It doesn’t matter which way you do it, though.
There are plants in the water that can drop chlorine itself, so you have to keep an eye out for plants like those just in case there are some in there.
Once you have a decent amount of salt, you’re going to head back to the land and place down a portable refiner or a personal refiner if you have one. You will need to put the salt into the refiner, and when you refine it, it will turn into chlorine.
