The winter season in the game is full of special events, and the snow on your island will be permanent for the whole winter season. The snow will start falling in the middle of December; you will notice the snow flurries, and the grass in the game will turn into dull brown color, as shown in the image below.
So, Dec 11 will be the first day of the winter season on your island in the Northern Hemisphere, lasting until Feb 24. And in the Southern Hemisphere, the snow falling will start on Jun 11, which lasts till Aug 24, as shown in the image below
In the winter season, you can make as many snowmen as you can, and also, you will discover new days around your island, including festive and frozen DIY sets. You can also participate in toy day and a new year eve celebrations event in the game, as shown in the image below.
