How to Hunt Perfect Animal Pelts Every Time in Red Dead Redemption 2

This guide will let you know how to hunt PERFECT Animal Pelts/Parts Every Time & EASY Legendary Animals in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The benefits of hunting are that you can cook and eat a lot of types of meat you get at a campfire. You can donate animal parts and carcasses to people at the camp. You can sell many animal parts at butchers or general stores or trappers. You can even make legendary talismans and trinkets and outfits with some of the skins you find.

So hunting is very important, however, there are a lot of ways to do it wrong and there are only a few ways to do it right. This guide will discuss how you can do that right.

When it comes to hunting, there are two things you need to keep in mind; animal quality and kill quality.

Let’s start with animal quality first, you can discover the animal’s quality by focusing on it through a scope or binoculars, and then you can study it. Then an animal’s quality is going to be revealed in the info window by the number of stars next to the creature’s name. One star is poor, two stars are good and 3 stars are pristine, the one that you want. If you don’t see a three-star animal, you might as well ignore it; it’s not even going to be worth it.

The next thing is kill quality which determines what part of the body you hit and what weapon you use. You sort of need to use a little bit of real-life logic. For example, fatal damage and critical damage might be to the lungs or the stomach and fatal damage might be to the brain or the heart. It’s very simple you just have to apply it like real-life logic, you know if you’re going for a kill on someone, you would want to hit them in the heart, head, or vital organs. It also depends on the weapons you use depending on the size of the prey. There are certain types of weapons and ammo that are better suited than others.

Animals come in five different sizes, small, moderate, medium, large and massive, and depending on what size animal you have you might have to use a different weapon.

You have to use a little bit of logic and common sense, you wouldn’t hunt an elk with T&T, you know you’re not going to get good Pelt quality. You wouldn’t hunt a rabbit with a massive rifle because it’s not going to work either, you’re going to blow it to shreds. For the smaller animals, you need to use the bow and arrow. If you’re going for those fatal and critical shots to the head or heart, you’re going to get the perfect pelt.

The only way to get a perfect pet is to find a pristine animal whose kill quality is perfect and that will give you a perfect grade animal part and that’s the one you want.

Now, why do you want a perfect animal part well for two reasons.

Number one is that there are some outfits in the game that you can only create if you have a perfect animal pelt or perfect animal parts.

Number two is that if you’re in the interest of selling them, then they will sell for more money if you have a perfect animal pelt. So it’s just in your best interest to only go for perfect ones.

It is recommended to start hunting some animals that don’t necessarily move all that well. Alligators or the crocodile might be perfect because they don’t move, so you can just find the three-star one and line up a perfect shot. After that, go skin the animal. So once you get a little bit of practice in identifying the pristine three-star animals, and then you can figure out you know which gun is gonna work best for this situation.

Now another useful tip for this is Eagle Eye and Dead Eye.

Eagle Eye will allow you to track the animals especially if it’s in bushes or a more wooded area, it’s going to be way easier to follow and it will also sort of give you an outline of the animal itself.

Then the Dead Eye will allow you to get that perfect shot you can even use Dead Eye with a bow and arrow so that’ll allow you to get the heart or the head or one of those vital organs that you’re going for. You have to use all the tools at your disposal while hunting.

Of course, use some common sense as well. You want to be crouched and a little bit more stealthy, you don’t want to go in guns a-blazing. So all of those factors will lead you to get perfect pelts in Red Dead Redemption.

Now let’s talk about legendary animals. There are 16 legendary animals in Red Dead Redemption, scattered throughout the world. You need to find them by investigating a series of clues throughout their area.

Now depending on the area, this can be super complicated or super tricky.

You just need to find clues in its general area that will tell you where the animal is from. You have to use Eagle Eye to sort of track where the next clue is and you will get to this animal’s last-known location.

In terms of hunting legendary animals, kill quality does not matter when you take down these unique creatures. The items that they yield are going to be unaffected by the means of their death so you can take them out with your most lethal firearms and if you’re planning to face a legendary animal, you have to make sure you’re equipped with powerful weapons and ammunition.

You don’t have to worry about the animal quality as well all legendary animals are automatically three stars by default it’s not like your game is gonna give you a one-star legendary animal that doesn’t happen. You can use dynamite and explosive shotgun slugs, it doesn’t matter how you go about hunting the animal as long as you can get the kill, you’ll be able to get the pristine pelt.

So there’s a big difference between legendary animals and normal animals. The legendary animals are one-of-a-kind and once you kill them, they will not appear again, so you need to make sure to skin them and take all loot so you don’t leave anything behind.

Now, this is also important to note if you do leave anything behind a note the irreplaceable parts required to create any related talismans or trinkets are automatically sent to the trapper so if you can’t carry something on your horse because it’s full or in your satchel, because it’s a full note that all required parts to make items in-game will be automatically given to the trapper so you won’t have to like go back and try and find it or something like that the game doesn’t make you get that specific and the last thing.
