You have to press the R3 button to open up the social menu but you can’t see your friends list there. So you need to go to Options and then go to the Channel tab from the top. There, you can create a new channel, and can also invite your friends to your channel. Once you have created your channel and invited your friends, your channel will be added under the Channel tab.
After that, go to your existing channel and you can see who is online. Then you have to select the name of the person and click on the Join button or you can also select invite to party from the menu. With this, you can join the chat channel and you can start communicating with them.
In the case of PS 5, you will need to go to the game base and select community. From the pop-up menu, you have to find someone who is playing Modern Warfare, after finding that person you have to select their name, and then on the next menu, you can join the game. Also, you can invite people to this lobby.
