The first thing you will need to do is click on the world and check the Start Server check box. After that, enter the password to enter the world, and then you have to click on the Start option on the bottom right side of the world window. You will see that you can invite two lobbies which means that you can invite others to the game if you are the host.
If you are trying to join your friend, you need to make sure that he clicks on the Start Server option while making the server. If they are unable to do it, you will not be able to see them in your friend list of join games.
