If you are attacked by the riders, you have to click on the bells and garrison your villagers. Once you do this, they will start shooting at the riders.
In case you don’t have many weapons, then there will be no way to defend yourself. Make sure you click on the town hall and garrison the villagers. When the riders are gone, you have to turn it off.
