How to Update Your PS4 System Software Using A USB

In this guide, you will come to know how to update the PS4 system software with the help of a USB drive. 

First, you need to connect the drive in your system and then go to “This PC”, and you will find your USB drive, as shown in the image below.  

Right-click on the USB drive and select the format option because if it is not formatted, your PlayStation-4 will not read this USB drive. A new tab will pop up; click on the start button and start formatting the drive.  

When it is finished, you will need to open the drive, create a new folder and name it PS4. Then open up the PS4 folder, create a new folder and name it as UPDATE. Now you have to drag and drop the PS4UPDATE.PUP file, which you need to download from the link given below.

Click on the link, scroll down and then click on the download PS4 update file link. It will start downloading the file automatically.

Now you have to connect the USB drive from the computer to your PS4 and make sure to turn off your PS4 completely. After connecting the USB, you have to press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, you will hear two beeps, and then you will be in the safe mode of PS4. Press the PlayStation button from your controller, and it will popup a few options; you have to select the third option, “Update System Software”, as shown in the image below.  

Next, go to the first option, “update from USB storage device”. Press the OK button, and it will start to update your PS4.
