This guide will let you know how to use the Smudge Sticks in Phasmophobia.
Smudge sticks are similar to the other items in Phasmophobia, they are used for multiple reasons. The primary reason to use them is to complete the optional cleanse of the area near the ghost. Smudge stick also helps to increase the time, it takes the ghost to do its next hunt.
You can enter into any mission with four smudge sticks and with two lighters. Smudge cost 15$ each and the gold plated lighter cost 10$ each.
To load your lobby up with a maximum number of smudges and lighters will cost you 80$. If you are new to the game, you have to save your money by getting only 2 smudgers and one lighter.
To use these smudge sticks, you also need to have a lighter in your inventory that does not have to be lit or even in your hand. Once you have the lighter and the smudge stick, you have to pull the smudge stick into your inventory hand and press “f”. It will start to smoke indicating that it is working. It will last for 15 seconds and it will turn dark brown indicating that it is over.
Ghosts within 6 meters of the smudge stick will be prevented from hunting for full 90 seconds.
In case you are in larger maps, let’s say you are in prison; you should move around as much as possible when that smudge stick is lit. It will help you cover a very large area and might be you succeed in completing the optional objective as well as resetting the ghost hunt timer. Similar to a crucifix, throwing a smudge stick at a ghost will not cause a hunt to end. However, it will cause a ghost to retrieve for a few seconds before attacking you. The spirit ghost is allergic to smudge sticks and when it will necessarily be smudged, it will prevent hunting for 180 seconds.
Smudge sticks can be dropped on the floors and can be lit from an already lit candle or lighter.
