NBA 2k22 Dunk Meter Explained

In this guide, you will learn about the Dunk Meter in NBA 2k22: Current Gen. You have to follow the steps to time Dunks, turn off the meter, and provide you with the best Dunking tips.

You have a new feature of Dunk Meter in NBA 2k22: Current Gen; you can use this feature in Current-Gen but not in NextGen. You have to hold R2, move your left stick towards the basket, and hold the right stick downward. By doing it, the dunk meter will appear on the screen and then as you progress with it, the meter will fill. You have to put the mark between the green line, as shown in the image below.

There is a white notch in the middle of the green line. If you successfully stop the meter at that point, you will get an excellent release on that specific attempt. If you didn’t get in the green line, then you will get an early release.

If you stop the meter after the white notch, then you will get the late release. If you didn’t even complete the yellow line you will get a very early release. If you stop the meter after completing filling up, then you will get a very late release.

If you can release somewhere between the green line, you can make a good shot. If you stop the meter before reaching it to the green line, you will miss the shot. You need to reach the green line; stop the meter between the green line to do a dunk shot. The size of the green line depends upon the difficulty. If you are playing on the easy mode it will be easy for you to stop the meter between the green line.

So if you are playing on difficult mode, it will become difficult for you to do a dunk shot because the green line becomes narrow, as you can see in the image below.

The size of the green line in the dunk meter also depends upon the player. For example, Steph Curry will give you a bigger green line in the dunk meter than someone like Shaq. If you want to do an aggressive skill dunk with the player Zion, his green line of the funk meter will be much bigger because he is one the best dunkers in the NBA 2k22: Current Gen.

Your driving dunk needs to be a minimum of 36, and the standing duck needs to be at least 40 to perform a dunk shot. For example, R.Rubio has only a 25 dunk rate. At this rate, you will never be able to do an aggressive skill dunk. S.Marbury has a 35 driving dunk rate, and still, you can’t do an aggressive skill dunk with this dunk rate. But Steph Curry will perform a dunk with a 36 driving dunk rate, and the standing duck needs to be at least 40. So you need a player with a minimum of 36 driving dunk rate.

You need to have enough stamina to perform the dunks. The one method to activate the dunk meter is to hold R2, move your left stick towards the basket, and hold the right stick downward. You can activate it by another method, and it is the Alley-oop. The green line in the alley-oop becomes much longer.

The white notch also appears very soon in it. It will help you to successfully do an aggressive skill dunk just because of the Alley-oop. You have to apply the same rules even if the green line is much longer in the Alley-oop. The player will miss the dunk if it releases the shot early or late.

You can even deactivate the dunk meter if you don’t want to use it. As you know, it will activate the shot meter on all jump shots. But the dunk meter only activates when you hold R2, move your left stick towards the basket, and hold the right stick down while performing the Alley-oop

If you don’t do any of these, the dunk meter will not activate and play the game without activating the dunk meter. It is not difficult to master the dunk shot, unlike the shot aiming in the NBA 2k22: Current Gen

In this way, you can do an aggressive skill dunk in the NBA 2k22: Current-Gen and have more fun playing the game.
