Pokémon HG/SS: Best Water-Types

There are a lot of viable Water-type Pokémon in Pokémon HG & SS which makes it difficult to choose the best for your team. This guide will help you with that decision.


Vaporeon is a Water-type Pokémon, also known as the Bubble Jet Pokémon. It was introduced in Generation 1 with an HP of 2, and a catch rate of 45 with a Poké Ball and full health. Water Absorb is its ability. Its base friendship is 50, and it grows at a medium rate. The egg cycles of these pokemon are 35 (8,739–8,995 steps).


Feraligatr is a Water type Pokémon, and it is known as the Big Jaw Pokémon. Feraligatr was introduced in Generation 2, it has the Torrent ability which allows it to create powerful waves of water. It has high Attack and Defense stats, making it a strong contender in battle. It also has a high catch rate, making it easy to find in the wild. The egg group of this pokemon is monster, water 1. The gender of this pokemon is 87.5% male, 12.5% female. The egg cycles of the pokemon are 20 (4,884–5,140 steps).


Kingdra is a Water and Dragon type Pokémon, it is 1.8 meters (5′11″) in height and it weighs 152.0 kilograms (335.1 pounds). It has two abilities; Swift Swim, which doubles its speed in rain, and Sniper, which lets it always hit its target. Its base friendship is 50 and its base experience is 243. It grows fast. The egg cycles of these pokemon are 20 (4,884–5,140 steps). 


Lapras is a Water/Ice Pokémon, it is known as the Transport Pokémon. Lapras was introduced in the first generation. Lapras is 2.5 meters tall and weighs 220 kilograms. Its abilities are Water Absorb and Shell Armor, and it has a catch rate of 45 with a PokéBall if it has full health. Its base friendship is 50, and its base experience yield is 187. Lapras evolves into Slowking when traded holding a King’s Rock. The egg cycles of these pokemon are 40 (10,024–10,280 steps). 


Gyarados is a Water-and-Flying-type Pokémon that can be found at level 5. It is known as “the atrocious Pokémon.”  Gyarados will be worth their weight in gold. It can intimidate opponents and, when given the chance, mow down its foes with its powerful Moxie Attack. The egg cycles of the pokemon are 5 (1,029–1,285 steps).
