X4: Foundations is a combat simulator being developed by Egosoft, a company with a long history in the video game industry. The focus of X4 is on “the future of humanity as we know it,” and the player must work together with friends, allies, and enemies to create a society that can survive. It is available on Linux, and Microsoft Windows.
Where is the save game folder in X4: Foundations?
There are a total of three locations of the X4: Foundations save file. The first one is for Steam users, the second is for GOG and the last save file location is for Codex.
- You can find the X4: Foundations save file in your user directory. You have to open Windows Explorer and go to Documents. After that, go to Egosoft and click on X Rebirth -> USER ID -> save.
Steam – C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents\Egosoft\X Rebirth\USER ID\save
- You have to go to Documents inside your user directory and then navigate to Egosoft. After that, go to X4 and double-tap on “save”.
GOG – C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents\Egosoft\X4\save
- To access the save file, you need to go to Documents inside your user directory and then head to Egosoft -> 1638 -> save.
Codex – C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents\Egosoft\1638\save
How Do I Install the Save File?
First, you will need to download the save game file and extract it with the help of WinZip. After that, you have to copy the save file to a save games location and make sure to have a backup of your save.
Important: Always back up the save file before replacing it with the new one.
