Hold Person, Dissonant Whispers, Create/Destroy Water, Light, Faerie Fire, Magic Missile, Fog Cloud, Hunter’s Mark, Flaming Sphere, Flame Blade, Scorching Ray, Pass without Trace, Darkness, and Cloud of Daggers.
A Tier spells
A Tier spells are considered one level below the S Tier spells but are still very effective within the game.
Hellish Rebuke, Dancing Lights, Chromatic Orb, Thorn Whip, Misty Step, Shillelagh, Spike Growth, Mirror Image, Shocking Grasp, Invisibility, Moonbeam, Aid, Inflict Wounds, Minor Illusion, Jump, Shield of Faith, Produce Flame, Thunderwave, Ray of Frost, and Bane.
B Tier spells
The B Tier spells are not as dominant as those in the upper tiers.
Sacred Flame, Heat Metal, Longstrider, Guiding Bolt, Blade Ward, Mage Hand, Thaumaturgy, Protection from Poison, Find Familiar, Darkvision, False Life, Prayer of Healing, Command, Fire Bolt, Protection from Evil & Good, Lesser Restoration, Burning Hands, Silence, Ray of Enfeeblement, Entangle, Blur, Shatter, Melf’s Acid Arrow, Web, Grease, Ensnaring Strike, Mage Armor, and Resistance.
C Tier Characters
C Tier spells are typically less effective, or more limited in their capabilities compared to spells in higher tiers.
Expeditious Retreat, Hail of Thorns, Poison Spray, Feather Fall, Enlarge / Reduce, Barkskin, Searing Smite, Enhance Ability, Color Spray, and Goodberry.
D Tier spells
D Tier spells are generally considered the weakest or least effective spells in the game.
Crown of Madness, Detect Thoughts, Speak with Animals, Cure Wounds, True Strike, Disguise Self, Blindness, Animal Friendship, Ray of Sickness, Witch Bolt, Arms of Hadar, and Charm Person.
