Fjordhawk is a new creature in the game with much utility for PVE and PVP. You can use the Creature Finder Deluxe to find Fjordhawk; there’s a large cluster of them northwest of the map and some in the central south.
After finding it, you need to tame it, which is quite easy. Just kill creatures around them, they will land to eat it, and the tame bar will fill. The filling of the tame bar will depend on the drag weight of what you kill around them. Kill big creatures to fill up the bar quickly. Once you’ve fed them enough, they will be tamed, and you can get your own Fjordhawk.
After that, give it a name and place it on your shoulder by pressing E on PC. You will get an overlay that will present you with several icons. The skull and crossbones icon indicates the presence of any item caches, and if you throw a Fjordhawk off your shoulders, it will consume the corpses that are lying around. If you hold R, you’ll get your context wheel for your shoulder mount, and you can disable Prey Detection.
Fjordhawk will be invulnerable when it is on your shoulder, and it doesn’t have an inventory because of its party piece. When you die with a Fjordhawk on your shoulder, it will pick up everything in your inventory and bring it back to wherever you spawn again. It doesn’t matter wherever you respawn.
