There are two different methods to block shots in NHL 23, and the first is the crouch block. You will need to hold down L1 or LB on the Xbox One and make sure to get in the shooting Lane to affect the shot to perform a Crouch block. You can also use it to block the passes.
The next method is the Dive block, but you can get called for penalties if you move into the other player. You have to press L1 and R1 at the same time. If you are playing on Xbox, press LB, and RB simultaneously to perform a Dive block.
