As you kill sentinels, they will drop these sort of drum-looking containers, you have to pick them up each time you see one as they can contain salvaged glass. If you use it in your inventory, it has a chance of giving you a sentinel pillar map. You can use salvaged glass which you can get off of killing sentinels as they have a chance to drop it when killed. When you use it in your inventory, there’s a chance that you will get a sentinel pillar map which you can then use to find a sentinel pillar.
The only disadvantage to doing it this way is that when you reach the pillar there will be sentinels there guarding it so be aware of that as well.
