How to Get Free Ships Early on in No Man’s Sky

In this guide, you will come to know how to get the free ships early on in No Man’s Sky. You have to follow the simple steps in this guide to get free ships.

The first thing you will need to do is head to any space station in your System and talk to the cartographer on the station.

Once you start talking to the cartographer, you have to get the planetary chart with the distress beacon on it; you can either buy it with navigation data or use nanites to try to get the chart. But you might not get a distress beacon every time using nanites since you do have a chance to get other charts.

Once you get the distress beacon planetary chart, you have to use it until you get a message saying “distress signal detected”. If you use the chart and it doesn’t give you that message, you have to buy another one and use it until you get the distress beacon message.

When you find and claim the crashed ships, they will have damaged components and damaged inventory slots that you will have to repair to bring the ship back to its prime state. You only need to repair the launch thrusters and pulse engine to fly the ship.

If you don’t want to spend time repairing all the modules for the crashed ship that you got for free, then you can take it to a space station. You have to wait for other ships to come in, and you can trade in the damaged ship for another one. The only way you can trade a damaged ship for a new one for free is if the new ship you are trying to get has an equal or lower value than the damaged ship you found.
