Torch is a very useful craftable item. You can use it under the caves to continue mine deeper and the mobs won’t spawn near the torch. You will need Wood Blocks, Cobblestones, Furnace, Charcoal using Furnace, Wood planks and Wooden Sticks to make Torch (Charcoal). Please follow the following steps to make Torch (Charcoal).
Wood Blocks
First of all you will have to find plenty of wood logs. Equip your wooden pickaxe and get them from trees in forest biomes.
Cobblestone
The next item you will need to find is cobblestone. You will have to get at least 8 cobblestones to make a furnace. Look for the cobblestones in the caves and use your wooden pickaxe to gather them.
Then take crafting table from your stock and place it somewhere on the field so that you can craft a furnace.
Craft Furnace
You need to add 8 cobblestones in 3*3 crafting grid in the same way as shown in the following image. Where you will have to add cobblestone in every cell except the middle one. You will get a Furnace in the right-side box of the crafting table. Add the furnace into your inventory.
Charcoal using Furnace
Now you need to make charcoal by using oak wood logs in the furnace. Add some wood logs in the upper box and some of the wood logs in the lower box and wait for some moments to get charcoal in the right-side box of the furnace. Add charcoal into the inventory.
Wood planks
The next thing you need to do is to make wooden planks from Oak wood block. One wood block will convert into 4 wooden planks. Move to the crafting table and sdd wood block in any cell of the 3*3 crafting grid to get wooden planks in the right-side box of the crafting table. Bring these planks into your inventory.
Wooden Sticks
Now you need to craft sticks from wooden planks using a crafting table. Add 8 wooden planks in adjacent cells, 4 in each cell, as shown in the image below. You will get wood sticks in the right-side box of the crafting table. 8 wood planks will give you 16 sticks. Add them in inventory to use later.
Craft Torch
Finally you can craft a torch using the crafting table. Add sticks and charcoal column wise as shown in the image below. This will give you Torch in the right-side box of the crafting table. And remember that, the combination of one stick and one charcoal can give you 4 torches. Bring them into “ready to use” stock.
