How to Setup Your Own Craftopia Dedicated Server

This guide will help you to set up your own Craftopia Dedicated Server on Windows. First, you will need to download and install SteamCMD, set up the steamCMD application, and generate config files. After that, change the configuration settings, and set up the Windows Defender Firewall with advanced security.

Download and install SteamCMD

In this section, we will take you through the steps to download and install SteamCMD to set up your own Craftopia Dedicated Server on Windows. After downloading, you have to extract the downloaded files on your computer.

  • First, you have to open the browser from your computer and download the SteamCMD.
  • Upon reaching the web page, click the Windows tab from the listings of content.

  • After downloading, click the folder icon from the right side of the window to reach the recently downloaded file’s location.

Setting up the steamCMD application

This section describes how to setting up the steamCMD application after downloading it.

  • Once the file has been extracted, click on This PC from the left side panel of the file explorer.
  • After that, go to Local Disk C and make a new folder. Rename this newly created folder as Server and double-click it to open it up.
  • You have to drag the recently downloaded SteamCMD folder and drop it into the newly created Server folder.
  • After that, double-click the SteamCMD folder to open it.

  • Once the folder is opened, double-click the steamCMD application to open it.

  • When the steamCMD application is opened, make a new folder in the recently opened server folder by clicking the folder icon from the quick access toolbar.
  • After that, rename this newly created folder as Craftopia or whatever you desire.

  • When the steamCMD application is opened, double-click the recently created Craftopia folder to open it.
  • Once the folder is opened, copy the address shown on the location bar from the menu.

  • You have to input the following command to install the server forcefully.
'force_install_dir (your home path)

This command is used to specify a custom installation directory (your home path) when installing software or games, forcefully directing the installation to that location.

  • Input the following command to log into your server anonymously.
login anonymous

  • After that, input the following command in the command prompt box.
  • Now you have to wait for the files to process as it depends on the speed of your internet connection.
app_update 1670340 validate

This command will validate the game or application with the ID number 1670340.

  • Once the game is downloaded, input the following command.
exit

It will close the command prompt and quit the server.

Generate config files

This section explains how to generate the config files to set up your own Craftopia Dedicated Server on Windows.

  • Go back to the Craftopia folder from the Local disk C and click the View tab from the quick access toolbar.
  • Checkmark the option named file name extensions from the menu to see the extension names of all the files.

  • After that, create a new folder by clicking the folder icon from the quick access toolbar in the menu.
  • Rename the folder to start.bat or whatever you desire.

  • Once the folder is created and renamed, right-click it and select the Open with Brackets option from the menu.

  • You have to click the Allow access button from the Windows security alert window to give it access permission.

  • Now you need to input the following code for the startup script.
  • Click the file tab from the quick access toolbar and select the save option to save this file.
start Craftopia.exe -batchmode -showlogs

This command will launch the Craftopia game in batch mode with log files enabled, which allows for automated or scripted execution and displays real-time logs.

  • After that, double-click the start.bat to run the file for the first time and adjust the server settings.

  • Click the Allow access button from the Windows security alert window to give it access permission.

  • Once the file is opened and running, wait until it is completely processed.
    After that, you can see your server settings in the window.
  • While you have got your server settings, use the following command, once the server has generated all the config files.
shutdown

It will close the command prompt and quit the server.

Changning configuration settings

This section describes how to change the configuration setting files to set up your own Craftopia Dedicated Server on Windows. You have to change the name, the difficulty level of the game, and max player, and other related configuration settings.

  • You will need to double-click the server settings from the Windows server folder to open it.

Upon reaching the window, you can get the description of each server’s settings.

You may change the name, difficulty level of the game, and max player numbers up to ”7” as per recommendation.

  • If you want to set a password, write ”1” in the user password row and input the password in the server password line.
  • Click the file tab from the quick access toolbar and select the save option to save this file.

Setting up the Windows Defender Firewall with advanced security

This section describes how to set up the Windows Defender Firewall with advanced security. By following the steps below, you will be able to create new ports.

You can open the ports from your firewall if you want to make the server public. In public mode, you can allow other users outside of your network to connect to the game.

  • You need to click on the Windows button from the taskbar.
  • Write firewall in the search box and select the Windows Defender Firewall with advanced security option from the start menu.

  • Upon reaching the window, click the inbound rules tab from the left side panel.
  • Select the New Rule option from the menu of action.

  • Once the window is opened, click the port option from the menu of the rule type.
  • After that, select the Next button from the bottom of the menu.

  • When the next window popup, click the Protocol and Ports tab from the left side panel.
  • Now select the TCP from the menu and write 6587 in the box from the section of specific local ports.
  • After that, tap on the Next button a couple of times from the bottom of the menu.

  • Upon reaching the Name window, write 6587 TCP in the name box and select the Finish button from the menu.

  • Create a new port by following the same method. Write 27015-27030 in the box from the section of specific local ports.
  • Upon reaching the Name window, write 27015-27030 TCP as the port name and hit the Finish button.

  • You need to repeat the same steps again to create another TCP port and write 27036-27037 in the ports text box.
  • Input 27036-27037 TCP in the name box and select the Finish button.

  • Now you have to select the New rule option again from the menu of action.
  • Once the window is opened, click the port option from the menu of the rule type. After that, select the Next button from the bottom of the menu.

  • Now select the UDP from the menu and write 4380 in the box from the section of specific local ports. After that hit the Next button a couple of times.

  • Upon reaching the Name window, input 4380 UDP in the name box and press the Finish button.

  • Create a new UDP port by following the same method. Now input 27015-27030 in the box from the section of specific local ports.
  • Upon reaching the Name window, input 27015-27031 UDP in the name box and hit the Finish button.

  • You need to repeat the same steps again to create another UDP port. Write 27036 in the box from the section of specific local ports.
  • After that, tap on the Next button a couple of times.
  • Upon reaching the next window, input 27036 UDP as the name and press the Finish button.
