Deathloop is an action-adventure first person shooter developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks.
The game is set on the island of Blackreef and the story is based around a mysterious time loop that resets time and repeats the same day over and over.
The game assigns you the role of Colt, an assassin who has to do everything in his power in order to escape the loop. Unlike other characters in the game, Colt can retain his memories from the previous cycles which allows him to discover new ways to beat the clock by finding new clews and uncovering subtle details that allow him to go a little bit further the next time. The island also houses a former army base, where people gather every night to attend a party. The party has been going on ever since the island entered the time loop and every night as it is about to end, the clock resets again to the start of the party. None of the attendants of the party have any memories of the previous cycle and are doomed to repeat their actions till eternity. The game also features a multiplayer mode which lets you take on the role of another assassin named Julianna whose job is to protect the time loop and kill Colt.
The game features only one way to escape the time loop and that is by assassinating eight different characters before the clock resets. If you are not able to take out all eight before midnight, you have to start over from scratch the next day. The game implements a unique test and trial way of finding out the optimal sequence to carry out the assassinations. You learn your targets’ habits and patterns as they move about in the game which you can use to figure out the right order and the method of these assassinations. The different skills featured in the game include a mixture of stealth, attack and parkour skills which you can use together or individually to overcome your targets. As far as weapons are concerned, you can use melee attacks in addition to a wide selection of guns. Furthermore, you can also use a few things from the environment to use as potential weapons.
