This guide will provide you with the Severus Snape build that focuses on the spells he would use if he were playing this game.
Severus Snape is one of the Harry Potter series’ most interesting and intriguing characters. Hogwarts Legacy allows players to role-play their favourite characters. The Half-Blood Prince build aims to integrate Severus Snape’s herbology and Potions knowledge into the build. His affinity for Dark Arts is combined in this build to make it as lore-centric as possible.
For Role-playing and staying true to its lore, Slytherin house seems the obvious choice. But players can also pick Hufflepuff as this house is known for its interest in Herbology and magical creatures. Anyway, it doesn’t have any impact on the spells or talents you get but to stay true to the lore of the original books.
Severus Snape Spells
Diffindo is a damage spell, and it’s chosen for its similarity to the Sectum Sempra spell invented by Severus Snape. Like the original spell, this spell slashes enemies causing damage. This spell is quite effective against vulnerable enemies and causes extensive damage. Pair it with the Diffindo Mastery Talent to increase the range of this spell and deal damage to additional enemies.
Expelliarmus is another damage spell used in this build. Another one’s of Snape preferred spells in the books. It’s excellent against Goblins and Pensive Guardians. As this spell disarms the target, pairing it with Ancient Magic Throw Expertise allows you to inflict additional damage. For enemies wielding melee weapons, this spell is highly effective.
Levioso is a control spell that levitates enemies in the air. It’s chosen for its similarity to Levicorpus (The jangling jinx), a spell invented by Snape, which levitates a target in the air by their feet. Pairing it with Levioso Mastery allows players to levitate multiple enemy targets.
Avada Kedavra is probably the most infamous spell that Snape uses. This spell instantly kills the target and is one of the Unforgivable Curses. This spell makes this Snape-inspired build a hybrid between the Dark Arts and the Light Arts. Pairing this spell with Avada Kedavra Mastery makes this an impressive build to play with.
Severus Snape Plants
Plants and Potions play a very integral part in this Build. The former Potions master had an impressive knowledge of Herbology. Augmenting plants in this build gives us options to tackle multiple enemies.
Chinese Chomping Cabbage, a murderous cabbage that seeks out the nearest enemy and then attacks it. Normally it dispenses minimal damage, but when the Herbology III trait is used, it can take out enemies in a single bite. This plant is very efficient when it comes to clearing the battlefield. Throwing these out in stealth catches the enemy by surprise, and they cause quite a bit of damage.
Venomous Tentacula is another plant, when deployed, shoots projectiles at enemies. It’s a turret-like plant that snipes at enemies and causes significant damage. Useful to thin out the battlefield and target far-away enemies. Deploying two of these creates havoc for enemies, and enemies take considerable damage.
Last but not the least, Mandrake is a powerful plant for this build. Using the Herbology III trait massively increases the radius and duration of stunning enemies. Its stun is spread over a large AOE and, coupled with Venomous Tentacula and Chinese Chomping Cabbage, allows you to extract enormous damage.
Severus Snape Potions
Any Severus Snape builds empty without the usage of potions. The famed potions master had incredible skills and knowledge of potions, and you will be augmenting this build with two primary potions.
The Focus Potion essentially reduces the cooldown of spells. This is beneficial as the Avada Kedavra spell has a particularly long cool-down period. Getting this spell off cool-down faster is the purpose of this potion.
The Thunderbrew Potion is another highly effective potion. It generates a storm around the drinker, stunning and damaging enemies nearby. This potion works over a large AOE, damaging multiple enemies. Using these potions and plants together creates a devastating wave of attack which can completely overwhelm waves of enemies.
Severus Snape Talents
Room of Requirement Talents
Fertiliser, an important talent, doubling the deployment of Chinese Chomping Cabbage. One becomes two, and devastating as they are, it’s an effective countermeasure when outnumbered. Plus, this allows players to use Chinese Chomping cabbage liberally and generates double the damage.
Headache is another talent which significantly increases the damage and duration of Mandrakes. The incapacitating effect of mandrake allows you to brew more potions. It lets your spells cool down faster so players can extract additional damage.
The Thunderbrew Potency talent greatly increases the range and damage of the Thunderbrew Potion. An essential upgrade for those using the Thunderbrew potion and vital for this build.
Noxious is a complementary talent which upgrades the Venomous Tentacula attacks. It allows them to inflict more damage with each strike, and importantly, they can break through the enemy’s shields. Absolute integral to utilize if Venomous Tentacula is being deployed.
Focus Potion Potency significantly increases the focus potion’s duration each time spells are cast from your spell set. It allows spells to cool down faster. This helps Avda Kedavra spell to be used more often, decimating your enemies.
Dark Arts Talents
Stunning Curse allows Stupefy to curse enemies, allowing you to extract additional damage when they’re cursed. Disarming Curse is similar, cursing enemies when Expelliarmus is used. Enduring Curse extends the curse’s duration, allowing players to strike more to deal additional damage. Avada Kedavra Mastery is a must when using the death spell, killing all cursed enemies in a single cast. Curse Sapper allows you to regenerate health every time a cursed enemy is defeated, which is vital for this build.
Core Talents
Basic Cast Mastery is integral for smooth gameplay, reducing cool-down for spells. Ancient Magic Throw Expertise pays dividends when Expelliarmus throws weapons back at enemies for increased damage. Spell Knowledge 1 and 2 is necessary, allowing you to swap another set of spells, giving players options and variety. Wiggenweld 1 and 2 increase the effectiveness of Wiggenweld Potions, allowing you to replenish health bars. Swift allows you to dodge attacks and dart around the battlefield, surprising enemies.
Severus Snape Traits
Only one primary trait is used in this build. Herbology III significantly enhances the attacks of all plants and makes them extremely powerful and lethal. Bewitch all your armour pieces with this Level III trait, and you/ll need to upgrade to legendary gear and armour to use Level III traits.
That’s all for this Severus Snape-inspired build. Customise your wizard carefully and become the next Half-Blood Prince.
