Talents in Hogwarts Legacy: Complete Rundown and How To Use Them

Living the wizarding life in Hogwarts Legacy isn’t quite simple. Magical beings are constantly trying to overpower you. Luckily you’ve got talents to shore up any weaknesses. Talents can be unlocked using talent points. These talent points are scarce; better learn which ones are essential for your wizarding life. Keep reading to get a complete rundown on all talents and which are better suited for your gameplay.

Spell Talents

In Hogwarts Legacy, you can use your talent points across 5 different categories. Lets’s start with Spell Talents. These talents enhance your regular spells with added range and more damage dealt.

Incendio Mastery

Casting Incendio will unleash a ring of fire around you, and the enemies close to you will be damaged. Useful in close combat as it’s a short-range spell. Useless for long-ranged attacks. For players looking for close combat talents, Incendio will suit you impeccably.

Accio Mastery

It allows you to pull multiple enemies near the target with the Accio spell and is useful in the game’s early stages. Gathers enemies in close range of each other. Furthermore, this talent loses its charm when enemies resist the Accio spell.

Leviosa Mastery

Same as the Accio spell, which allows you to lift multiple enemies close to each other. Useful for isolating enemies with shields. It is generally used more than the Accio spell in the game’s later stages. Between the two spells, Leviosa Mastery Talent is better.

Confringo Mastery

Hitting a target with Confringo produces fiery bolts that seek out other enemies. Extremely useful in combat and a must-have on landscapes. It has an excellent range and causes sufficient damage. Highly recommended!

Depulso Mastery

Casting the Depulso spell releases an additional blast around you. Helps knock enemies. Useful for a close-range build and gameplay style. Not effective for ranged attacks and damage. Pairs nicely with Incendio Mastery.

Diffindo Mastery

It upgrades Diffindo to slice through an opponent and hit another enemy standing behind. It’s lethal, but enemies aren’t usually lined up together. Keeping enemies in front of you allows for a better chance of success. A good, useful talent to pick up.

Bombarda Mastery

True to its name, The Bombarda Mastery causes an explosive blast when players hit the target. This huge blast knocks enemies close to the target and deals excessive damage. Effective for dealing with packs of enemies (The Undead). Choose the center of the pack and let your wand bring destruction. Highly recommended.

Descendo mastery

Descendo Mastery slams the target to the ground, creating a shockwave that knocks additional enemies down. Not useful for long-range gameplay as you’re attempting to keep enemies away from you.

Glacius Mastery

This spell freezes your enemy, and an additional attack on a frozen enemy sends out shards that damage nearby enemies. It’s quite useful for dealing with numerous enemies. It works long-range and deals sufficient damage. It’s an effective weapon to have at your disposal. This talent is quite advantageous in the latter stages of the game.

Transformation Mastery

Casting the transformation spell transforms targets into explosive objects. Flinging them toward other enemies creates a blast and deals excessive damage. Extremely useful as exploding objects deal excess damage and almost defeat the enemy. Not a bad option to have in your arsenal.

Dark Arts Talents

The Dark Arts deal with the most obscure and dangerous side of the spells, The Unforgiveable Curses. These particular talents enhance the effectiveness of the regular and Unforgiveable Curses by cursing enemies.

Stunning Curse

Casting a stupefy spell curses the enemy. It increases the damage the curse that the enemy can take. Quite a useful talent to have; it makes light work of longer fights. Practising Stupefy spells will lead to greater success. It is highly recommended.

Blood Curse

Dealing damage to one cursed target inflicts damage on other cursed targets. Useful if your curse duration is increased and speels are modified to curses. Suppose you’re willing to go the “curse” way. Not a bad talent to start with.

Knockback Curse

The Flipendo spell has the same effect as a curse on enemies. It increases the damage you deal while the enemy is cursed.

Disarming Curse

Expelliarmus spell now has a cursed effect. Cursed enemies are susceptible to increased damage. Handy if you’ve mastered the Expelliarmus spell. Disarms and curses the enemy.

Slowing Curse

Arresto Momentum has the same effect as a cursed spell; it leaves your targets hanging in the air to additional attacks. Players skilled with the Arresto Momentum spell should use this one.

Enduring Curse

A must-have talent if you’re going the “curse” route, it increases the duration of a curse on an enemy. This leaves it vulnerable to attacks for a longer period. Pairs nicely with the Blood curse. Having other spells modified to become curses helps as this leaves the enemies vulnerable to additional attacks.

Crucio Mastery

Attacking a target cursed with the Crucio spell releases projectiles, cursing other nearby enemies in the process. If you’re looking to spread curses over a wide area very quickly, this talent is a must-have. It goes well with other Talents in the Dark Arts category.

Avada Kedavara Mastery

Killing an enemy with Avada Kedavara kills all cursed enemies. Very powerful spell and extremely useful for eliminating opponents quickly. It pairs well with The Crucio Mastery, allowing you to curse enemies and then use the Avada Kedavara to kill all of the enemies.

Curse Sapper

Defeating a cursed enemy restores some of your health. Extremely useful when dealing with high-level opponents. A “health booster” talent, the more enemies you defeat, the more your health replenishes.

Core Talents

Core talents are aimed to enhance the overall effectiveness of a Wizard or a Witch. They are numerous and essential for players playing with medium and hard difficulty.

Spell Knowledge 1 & 2

It gives you more bars to slot spells in. You can swap another set of spells by Pressing R2. Extremely important and practical. Saves up time spent swapping spells for particular enemies. Unlocking this is important as it allows you to have 2 spell combos, one for combat and one for exploration. It’s an essential talent to unlock, as it saves time and offers more options in combat.

Wiggenweld Potency 1 & 2

These talents help heal you to a greater extent. Try unlocking both of these talents as they help utilize the most out of your health potions. A must-have essential, as healing potions aren’t that effective. This talent makes healing potions more effective.

Swift

Holding down dodge allows you to vanish quickly and reappear quickly. Advantageous for those who like close combat or those with close-range spells, for example, Depulso and Incendio. It is recommended to those whose build and gameplay suit this talent.

Protego Absorption

It’s a crucial talent to unlock as successful Protego blocks fill up the ancient magic meter. Perfect Protego blocks fill the ancient magic meter significantly. Extremely useful as many enemies have high health pools, so ancient magic is one of the most effective ways to deal damage. Protip: Try going for talents that increase your Ancient Magic Meter.

Ancient Magic Throw Expertise

Allows you to disarm and throw the weapon back at the opponent, causing additional damage. Advantageous for those proficient with the Expelliarmus spell.

Basic Cast Mastery

Reduces spell cooldown periods, allowing you to reuse them gain in combat. An essential talent to unlock. Useful in combat, allowing you to cast your spells again. This is an important talent, so try unlocking it earlier.

Stupefy Mastery

Striking enemies with stupefy stuns them for longer, allowing you to inflict damage while they’re stunned. Not a big fan of this. You want to inflict damage on them as the game progresses, not stun them. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Evasion Absorption

Successfully dodging an unblockable attack increases ancient magic. Anything that builds up your ancient magic faster should be the top priority. Use this to boost up your ancient magic meter while evading unblockable attacks. Highly suggest adding this talent to your arsenal.

Protego Expertise

Blocking any spell perfectly with Protego sends back two projectiles at enemies. If you’re good with your blocks, go for this talent, which causes additional damage while defending. If your blocking skill isn’t that good, I suggest skipping this one.

Revelio Mastery

Increases the range of the Revelio spell. A pretty innocent talent doesn’t add much to your abilities. But, combined with how the game goes on, Revelio isn’t used as much later. For those looking for generally easier gameplay, this talent is a good fit.

Basic Cast Airborne Absorption

Basic cast attacks on airborne enemies contribute to Ancient Magic Meter. An extremely productive and effective ability as these types of attacks is common while fighting. The added benefit of charging the Ancient magic Meter faster makes this talent quite handy. Don’t skip this one.

Protego Mastery

Perfect Protego block releases a powerful blast that breaks the enemy’s shields. Again, those proficient with Protego blocks should utilize this talent. Useful for counter-attacking a large number of opponents. Start practicing perfect Protego blocks.

Stupefy Expertise

Acquiring this talent leads to stupefy dealing direct damage on impact. Increased damage is dealt when an opponent is stunned. Useful for people more adept at Stupefy than Protego. If stupefying enemies is your forte, pick this up to deliver additional damage.

Stealth Talents

Sense of Secrecy 1 & 2

Reduces the enemy’s ability to detect you. Stealth is quite lethal in this game, allowing you to quietly wipe out entire bandit encampments. A must-have talent for those looking to stealth their way out of difficult situations. Great way to alleviate some pressure in difficult fights by thinning out the crowd. Unlock both talents for an increased anti-detection from your enemies’ eyes.

Human Demiguise

It allows you to sprint while using the Disillusionment spell. Handy for players proficient in stealth. Allows you to sneak around comfortably. Useful for bypassing restricted or heavily watched areas.

Petrificus Totalus Mastery

Petrificus Totalus can emanate over a larger area, impacting nearby enemies. Useful for players in stealth. Detection after Petrificus Totalus becomes almost impossible. Useful for taking out 2-3 enemies while in stealth.

Room of Requirement Talents

Edurus Potion Potency

It makes you invulnerable and deflects projectiles back at the enemy. Incredibly powerful potion booster, useful in longer and tougher fights. You can use this talent if you take Edurus potions.

Invisibility Potion Potency

Increases the duration from drinking the Invisibility Potion. Invisibility potions have very short durations generally, so stealth-minded players use this talent to enhance their duration.

Fertiliser

It is useful if you have Chinese Chomping Cabbage. This talent generates a second Chomping Cabbage at no cost. Increases the efficacy and damage of the Chinese Chomping Cabbage.

Headache

Useful for players equipped with Mandrakes. This talent increases the duration and damage caused by the Mandrake. If incapacitating enemies with a Mandrake is your thing, I’d highly recommend you unlock this talent. Beneficial against a wide range of enemies.

Maxima Potion Potency

This talent strengthens your attacks with additional damage and can break the enemy’s shield. For wizards using the Maxima Potion, this makes you particularly lethal in combat. Use this to greatly enhance your offensive abilities.

Thunderbrew Potency

The Thunderbrew Potion stuns and damages your foes. Unlocking this talent, there’s additional damage inflicted, and stun time is also increased. For those using potions in combat, it greatly enhances your combat abilities.

Focus Potion Potency

The Focus Potion reduces the cooldown period for your spells. Unlocking this talent greatly increases the duration of this potion when any of the basic cast spells are used. You can combine multiple combos and attacks from your basic cast spell to inflict heavy damage. It is very useful in lengthy fights or dealing with multiple foes.

Noxious

Introduces the Venomous Tentacula, a prickly plant that hurls projectiles at enemies and breaks their shields. Extremely useful in combat and inflicts significant damage towards enemies. You can use this talent when faced with multiple shielded enemies.
