In a random system, you can find ancient bones and just about any planet. Although if you are unlucky, it can be a little bit of a pain to find a planet with bones on it. You have to find a planet with bones on it first.
You can scan a planet before you land on it to see if it has ancient bones. But once you get on a planet with bones on it. You need to find bones using your analysis visor to find natural burial sites and dig up bones using the terrain manipulator.
Bones do have parties, with blue/rare bones being the least valuable and the gold/yellow ones being worth the most. So if you dig up a lot of bones, you can make some pretty easy and quick money in the game.
You can also find planets with ancient bones by going to the space anomaly and accepting a mission that have you collect ancient bones. However, the mission might not always be there.
