This guide will tell you how to set up custom maps for project zomboid with Gportal.
1- First, you have to open steam, then select the Zomboid game from the library and click on the Community tab from the top of the screen. After that, click on the Workshop tab and then subscribe to Custom Maps. Click on browse and then tap on Subscriptions.
2- It will bring you to the Dare tab and you will find Bedford falls there which is a new map in the Zomboid. You need to make sure that it is installed.
3- After that, go to the game location on your PC and find this. For this, you have to open the drive where Steam is installed, then click on Steam, and go to steam apps. After that, open the workshop folder, click on Content, and then open up the “108600” folder. Then you have to open the folder in this folder and click on mods. You will find the Bedford folder, open it up and then click on the media folder. You need to copy all the files into this folder.
After copying all the files, you have to go back to the steam folder and then open the steamapps folder. Go to the Common folder, open the Project Zomboid and then open up the media folder. You need to paste all the copied files there.
4- After this, open the Gportal, then go to your Project Zomboid server and scroll down to the FTP information. Open your Filezilla app and paste all the information in the relative blocks on the top of the file Zilla app. Now in file Zilla after connecting to the server, you have to click on Media on the left side and then open the drive where Steam is installed. After that, click on Steam, and then go to steam apps.
Then you have to open the workshop folder and click on Content. After that, open the “108600” folder, open the folder in this folder, and then click on mods. You will find the Bedford folder, open this and then click on the media folder. You have to drag all the files into this folder and drop them under the media folder in File Zilla.
5- Now in the file Zilla under the media folder, you have to scroll down and then click on the server folder. Once the server uploads, you have to come under the filename, then right-click on the folder and click on view, and edit.
After opening the server file on the notepad, you have to make changes in the file according to the picture given below. After doing the changes, save this file.
6- Now you have to go to the Gportal website and click on the basic settings on the left side. At the same time, you have to stop your server by turning OFF the Online option next to the game logo. After that, go down to maps and set the map to custom. Then write the name of the map as shown in the figure and click on the Save button.
7- After that, open Steam, and then boot your game. Then you have to go to the server in the game and refresh the server. The server will take some time to appear you have to wait, once the server appears, you have to click on Join Server.
There might be a chance that you have to install a workshop item while joining the server if it is needed. It will pop up on the screen and then simply you have to click on the Install button.
Once the installation completes, you will enter the server and then you will have the Mod installed into your game server.
