River ward is a good guy and he has an interest in ladies other than Judy. He is not a bad guy, but he refuses to leave the night city with you, you can get rid of him.
If you want to get rid of him, the first thing you have to do is his quest chain. It begins with the side quest called “I fought the law”. Eventually, you get to the point where you invade the Edgewood farm (the most memorable side quest in Cyberpunk).
When you get out of the River’s car, simply go to the fast travel point and use it to get away from here. You can also run away from him, but he will start messaging you, reminding you, and randomly teleporting to you.
Which may eventually stop, but quick traveling is an easy option in this scenario.
Once you are done, you will get the message that the job has failed.
What you will need to do is return to the farm and you will see his dead body lying among landmines. Which is probably how he died.
At this point, Johnny Silverhand will show up and he will accuse you of leaving him.
At this point, the farm will become impenetrable and all the entry points will be sealed.
