Soulcalibur VI is a fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Studios. It is the seventh main installment in the Soulcalibur series. The game can be played in single player and multiplayer modes.
The game takes place during 1583-1590 after the events of Soulcalibur V. The story is divided into two modes. The “Soul Chronicle” and “Libra of Soul”.
The former tells the story of the main characters and the looming threat of the nightmare. It is depicted in a graphic novel style layout with illustrations and voiced cut-scenes. It is set in Europe and features Kilik as he sets out to find the Nightmare and the Soul Edge.
Libra of soul takes place concurrently with the main story and is set in Asia around 1583. The game allows you to create your own custom protagonist in this mode. The protagonist then has to go on a journey to stop Azwel from recreating the Evil Seed.
Just like the previous versions, the game focuses on two combatants putting it all on the line using a 3D system. A lot of the elements like the guard impact, 8 way Run and character creation have been brought over from the previous installments. However the new mechanics add a layer of refinement to these elements not seen before. There are also certain features unique to this addition like Soul Charge which gives you a temporary power up to quickly change the landscape of the battlefield and Reversal Edge which allows you to swiftly counter incoming attacks using a fusion of defense and offense.
